Daniel Lloyd is once again celebrating, after receiving the career-changing news Porsche GB will provide financial support for a second season in 2013 therefore confirming his place on the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship grid next year.After being named the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar last November, the 20-year-old has certainly repaid the faith shown in him by the world-renowned German car manufacturer with some outstanding performances during the first 10 rounds of the current campaign.Securing his maiden victory in only his sixth race at the wheel of his Team Parker Racing-run Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, the first ever Scholar to claim a race win in their debut year, Daniel is also a superb fifth overall in the standings ahead of the resumption of the 2012 season just over a week from now.This announcement definitely came out of the blue its just unbelievable and, in a way, better than winning the Scholarship itself, said the TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack and TPA Yorkshire-sponsored driver, Porsche GB took a chance with me at the end of last year and now this amazing opportunity theyve given me for 2013 proves hard work pays off. It makes me really proud to know the people at Porsche feel Ive done a good job in the first 10 races and that they want to give me another opportunity for next year. It takes the pressure off in some ways as long as we can raise the rest of the budget we know well be back and it definitely sets a good foundation for the rest of 2012.The decision by Porsche GB to support the ultra-talented West Yorkshireman for another year, with a second 80,000 bursary, marks the first time in the history of the Scholarship programme such a move has been made.Our experience shows that young drivers coming into the Carrera Cup GB really need to have a two-year programme in the championship before they are ready to step up, hopefully into the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, said Porsche Cars GB motorsport manager Marion Barnaby.As well as the vital financial aspect a second year as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar will bring, Daniel will also continue to enjoy a strong package of support which includes the continuation of a tailored training programme at the Porsche Human Performance Centre at Silverstone.Not one year before have we known what we were going to do, or where we were going to be, the following season, added Daniel, This is the first time in my career Ill have a second successive year in the same type of car and same championship and thats a really exciting prospect.
