POOLE promoter Matt Ford has targeted five points from a busy programme of three matches in four days for the Elite League leaders next week. The top two sides clash at Blunsdon on Monday when the Pirates travel to Swindon, and Fords club then face home and away fixtures against Peterborough on Wednesday and Thursday.Ford said: The bookmakers seem to be offering low level odds on a Poole v Swindon Final at this stage which I suppose is predictable considering our positions in the table so far this season. But I am always very conscious of all the teams hunting down a play-off place. There are a lot of races to be won yet before the play-offs come round and no-one can afford to slip up at this stage. It would be great if we could come away from these three matches with a further five points under our belt.

BIRMINGHAM skipper Danny King is set to return for the clubs vital run of four meetings in five days this week.King was hurt in the British Final last Monday but should make his comeback at Belle Vue tomorrow, with trips to Swindon and Lakeside plus a home clash with the Hammers also on the Brummies schedule.King said: If I continue to improve over the weekend like I have done since Tuesday then I will be riding at Belle Vue. Its a big meeting for us and I hate missing meetings because I feel like I am letting the team down, which obviously isnt the case when youre injured but its just something I feel.I was just so angry and upset about the British Final because Ive been riding so well and I really felt I could make an impact.

BERWICK gained a remarkable 50-39 home win over Rye House despite being reduced to just four riders after two races. Both Bandits reserves Robert Branford and Robert Ksiezak were injured in a four-man pile-up in their first outing, but the remaining team members still did enough to take maximum points from the meeting.Manager Ian Rae said: We were already a six-man team before Heat 1 with Seb (Alden) being covered by rider-replacement, but then to lose both reserves during heat two was devastating and to be honest I wasnt sure how the lads were going to cope as there were only four left in the pits. But their desire to win was superb, including our guest Nick Morris who was excellent and was only beaten once all night for his 17-points. They made me very proud to be connected to Berwick Speedway.(FIXTURES)
