(SPEEDWAY 1)SWINDON moved to within one point of Elite League leaders Poole with a 49-41 win over the Pirates at Blunsdon.Skipper Hans Andersen ensured maximum points for the Robins with a stunning Heat 15 effort to overhaul Darcy Ward on the last lap, and boss Alun Rossiter also praised Nick Morris for his two late race wins which helped to settle a tight contest.Rossiter said: Hans seems to have gained a lot of confidence in the last month or so, hes doing better in the Grand Prix and he seems to have got his old swagger and bit of arrogance back, and also I think it was Nicks rides which helped us pull it out of the bag.He had one race win over Holder and then he came from nowhere in Heat 14 when Troy (Batchelor) lost his cut-out. Its a really good result for us.(SPEEDWAY 2)PETERBOROUGH shot up to fifth place in the Elite League standings with their biggest win of the seasona 61-32 victory over fourth-placed Lakeside at the Showground.Reserve Norbert Kosciuch carded a remarkable score of paid-20 for the Panthers, and fellow mid-season signing Krzysztof Buczkowski also dropped just one point, whilst Peter Karlsson scored exactly half of the Hammers total.Peterborough co-boss Jan Staechmann said: It was a very solid team performance with every man playing their part with some good rides. Norbert was very impressive, Krzysztof only dropped one point and Linus (Sundstrom) also looked very strong until he stopped in his last race.It was a very comprehensive victory and we need to keep this up as we have a very important month of racing ahead of us.(SPEEDWAY 3)WOLVERHAMPTON skipper Freddie Lindgren blasted back to top form with a 15-point maximum to help his side edge out Eastbourne at Monmore Green.Lindgren had been below his usual high standards in recent away matches but was unbeaten against the Eagles and combined with Tai Woffinden for crucial 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15 on their way to a 47-42 winalthough the visitors did gain a point which assists their play-off chase.Lindgren said: I came here and rode with a lot of aggression and it paid off. I got a full max and its a long time since I have done that, so I am really happy with my own performance and the fact that we managed to sneak a win.Hopefully I will have a bit of resurgence from here. We will have to wait and see but it is really encouraging. It has not been very fun to come over here and not score the points I am used to, so hopefully things will get a lot better from now on.(SPEEDWAY 4)NEW Belle Vue boss Jason Attwood celebrated his first win in charge of the Aces as they recovered an early deficit to defeat Birmingham 47-43.The home side were four points down early on but turned that around to lead by sixbut were still taken to a last-heat decider, in which top-scorers Rory Schlein and Craig Cook collected a 4-2.Attwood said: I am delighted with that result. I felt a lot of pressure for my first home meeting in charge, but we won as a team tonight. Rory had a bad first ride, but after that I think we saw some of the Rory Schlein that we were used to watching last season. And Craig Cook has been exceptional.(SPEEDWAY 5)RYE House have signed 18-year-old Danish rider Kasper Lykke Nielsen to fill the gap in their side left by the retirement of Jordan Frampton.Nielsen is set to make his debut for the Rockets at Leicester on Saturday, having ridden in the Danish Under-21 Championship the previous evening.Rye House promoter Len Silver said: It seems to make sense to take decisions with a view to re-grouping in 2013 as well as doing the best we can given the circumstances. So we have signed Kasper on the basis that he is a prospect for future success and not on the expectation that he will start getting big scores immediately. One condition of his joining the team was that he fulfils all of our remaining league fixtures so that he achieves an established average for 2013 and does not have to be included with a massive seven-point figure that is hard to live with.(FIXTURES)WEDNESDAY AUGUST 8:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Birmingham v Lakeside 7.30, Coventry v Swindon 7.30, Kings Lynn v Eastbourne 7.30, Poole v Peterborough 7.30PREMIER LEAGUE: Somerset v Edinburgh 7.30
