Andrew Jordan has won Snettertons second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race after old rivals Jason Plato and Matt Neal clashed yet again at the Norfolk circuit.

Plato had led from the start but on the penultimate lap his KX Momentum Racing MG6 was sent into a wild slide at Coram after contact with Neals Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civic.

Neal went through into the lead only for their cars to run off the track at the next bend, Murrays, following more contact.

Amid the dust, Jordans Pirtek Racing Civic and factory Honda driver Gordon Shedden sneaked by as Plato and Neal rejoined in third and fourth positions.

Neal, with a loss momentum, was also passed by Frank Wrathalls Dynojet Toyota Avensis and Tom Onslow-Coles eBay Motors BMW 320si starting the final lap, but these two then tangled allowing the Honda driver back into fourth.

So it finished Jordan, Shedden, Plato and Neal with Wrathall holding on for fifth. Mat Jackson took an astonishing sixth in Redstone Racings new NGTC Ford Focus ST ahead of the recovering Onslow-Cole and Dave Newshams ES Racing.com Vauxhall Vectra which had come through from the back of the grid.

Astonishingly it means team-mates Shedden and Neal are now tying for the championship lead with Plato still in third, just 17 points adrift.

Jordan's win is his first of the season. He commented: "I'm delighted as I feel this is overdue for everyone in the team. I was in second early on until matt got past me. I thought that was it but as it turns out I ended up in exactly the right place at the right time."

Shedden, who set the race's fastest lap, added: "What a race! I got caught up in the scrap for fifth early on but the car felt fantastic and once I got the place it was a case of getting my head down and charging. Andrew drove very well but I can't complain with second considering I started today's first race from the back."

And said Plato: "I was struggling with the extra success ballast in the car and although i had my mirrors full with three Hondas near the end felt I could have held on for the win, but obviously the contact with Matt took all that away. Still, third is OKit takes me that little bit closer to the top."

Lea Wood continued his strong weekend with ninth in his BINZ Racing Vectra as Jacksons team-mate Aron Smith completed the top ten in his S2000 Focus. Wood will start todays third race from pole position after the reversed grid draw fell nicely for him

There were dramas elsewhere. Entering the first corner Daniel Welchs slow-starting Welch Motorsport Proton snagged Ollie Jacksons AmD Racing.com VW Golf and span left into Adam Morgans Speedworks Toyota Avensis which went off the track and retired.

Rob Austins RAR Audi A4 and Chris Jamess ES Vectra were both pit lane visitors just before the off, the former stopping for good, the latter later managing one lap to bed in a newly fitted driveshaft. After retiring from the opening race, Robert Collards miserable day continuedon-going work to his car meant he only appeared late on in the race for a few exploratory laps... Tony Gilhams Thorney Vauxhall Insignia was a retirement mid-race.
