WORLD Under-21 Final Wild Card Tom Perry is relishing his big opportunity to take on the top international rising stars at Coventry on Friday.Somerset and Dudley star Perry has been nominated along with his Rebels team-mate Kyle Newman to compete in the Brandon showpiece against the likes of World Cup riders Maciej Janowski, Michael Jepsen Jensen and Mikkel B Jensen.Perry said: I am so pleased to get the Wild Card, because its a massive, massive meeting. Its a real honour to be chosen to ride in it.There are some World-class riders so to have the chance to line up at the tapes alongside them is sure to be a great experience. I am the underdog, the dark horse as such I guess, so I will just try my best and see what I can do.

PETERBOROUGH skipper Kenneth Bjerre scored a 15-point maximum as the Panthers boosted their play-off chances with a 55-38 win over leaders Swindon.Michael Jepsen Jensen (15+2) also starred against the Robins in an impressive display from the home side, who achieved the result despite the loss of guest Ryan Fisher who was taken to hospital after a heavy crash in Heat 8.Panthers co-boss Jan Staechmann said: Weve seen this all year, when our backs are against the wall we come out fighting. WOLVERHAMPTON moved above local rivals Coventry in the Elite League table with a 51-39 win over the Bees at Monmore Green.Tai Woffinden top-scored for the home side with 13-points whilst the visitors, already without Scott Nicholls (shoulder), lost Chris Harris with concussion after a Heat 11 crash.Wolves boss Peter Adams said: It was a good win. I know that the loss of Harris took the sting out of them, but we were very pleased with that. Our ambition now is to finish higher than any other Midlands club, and we have gone a long way to achieving that.Elsewhere, Belle Vue grabbed their third win of the season by holding on for a 48-42 victory over Lakeside, who were able to add a point to their Elite League total.

JASON Garritys remarkable return to racing continued with a bumper 16+2 haul as Rye House secured a 47-43 win over Workington.Garrity had made his comeback at Leicester on Saturday after three weeks out with a broken thumb and played the key role against the Comets, who salvaged a league point thanks to a last-heat 5-1 from Adam Roynon and Rene Bach.Garrity said: The thumb is good again now. I certainly cant complain about it or use it as an excuse. I was getting tired toward the end tonight, what with taking seven rides. Its been a long few days, but Im definitely getting there, and just want to keep banging in more good scores for the rest of the season.

RECENT Edinburgh signing Jozsef Tabaka will remain with the Monarchs for the remainder of the season.Tabaka has made a big impression since rejoining the Armadale side, who have now made Micky Dyerthe man Tabaka replaced due to injuryavailable to other clubs.Co-promoter John Campbell said: He gave a thrilling performance on Saturday and has been a pleasure to deal with.Because he has been picked as a Wild Card for the European Championships there is a chance he will miss one or two meetings in September but we feel we can cope with that.

DUDLEY are through to the National League Knockout Cup Final after the result of last Thursdays fog-abandoned meeting at the Isle of Wight was allowed to stand.The Heathens held a 34-point aggregate lead with nine races of the tie remaining, and the second leg will not be re-staged.Chairman Nigel Pearson said: We are naturally delighted to be going through to a major Final and we will make it a very special occasion. Cradley had a fantastic record in the cup competitions and we want to keep that going.The Islanders are concerned about a lack of dates because of the bad weather and they conceded there was very little chance of turning the tie around.
