PETERBOROUGH star Michael Jepsen Jensen moved to the top of the World Under-21 Final standings with a 15-point maximum in the third round at Coventry.Jepsen Jensen now holds a three point lead over fellow Dane Mikkel B Jensen who finished third on the night, with former home rider Przemyslaw Pawlicki also on the rostrum in second.Previous series leader Maciej Janowski scored ten, a total matched by impressive GB Wild Card Kyle Newman, whilst Tom Perry also took credit for scoring in every ride.Jepsen Jensen, looking at the big picture of the overall series, said: Nothing is won yet, but its good to win with 15 points although winning the rounds themselves is not necessary, you have to be on top at the end. But its nice to be leading by three points, so Im happy.

(SPEEDWAY 2)DAVEY Watt and Peter Karlsson scored a last heat 5-1 to see Lakeside home to a 47-43 win over Eastbourne. The home pairing both completed maximums as the Hammers had to be content with two points from the meeting, whilst the visitors were delighted with one point given their injury problems.Eagles manager Trevor Geer said: With no Joonas (Kylmakorpi) and no Lewis (Bridger) in the side, there was a very real chance that Lakeside could put us to the sword this evening, especially considering their recent home results. When we got the news that Denis (Gizatullin) had picked up an injury in Russia and that Timo (Lahti) had suffered a knock in Denmark it just gave us further cause to worry. I only have praise for the lads who did take to the track for us, they really got stuck in, fought for every point and rewarded us with an Elite League point that I imagine very few would have given us a chance of getting.

SOMERSET moved to the top of the Premier League with a 53-41 win over Sheffield at the Oak Tree Arena. The Rebels overcame the absence of three riders involved in the World Under-21 Final, with top three Jason Doyle, Jesper B Monberg and James Wright all hitting double figures.Manager Steve Bishop said: It is never easy when you have to go into a match without best part of half your team missing, but the rest of the guys certainly made up for that and we could not ask for more from Carl Wilkinson and James Sarjeant who guested for us. James may not have scored any points, but he was definitely on the pace and on tonights showing is one to watch for the future. Our main three all scored well, which put us in a dominant position for the majority of the match, one that we ran out as more than worthy winners.

SCUNTHORPE boosted their play-off challenge with a tenth consecutive home league win and a first-ever double over local rivals Sheffield.Ashley Birks top-scored for the first time since moving in the main body of the team, contributing 12+1 in the Scorpions 51-42 win, and provided the finish they required in Heat 15 for all three points after Josh Auty had been disqualified.Scunthorpe boss Richard Hollingsworth said: It was an important meeting because of the play-off implications, but to so many fans the bragging rights over our nearest and dearest from down the M18 are vital. To record our first ever home and away double over the Tigers is a momentous occasion and I know finishing above the Tigers is also important to our fans.

THE top two sides in the National League are set for two clashes in three days, as Mildenhall face leaders Dudley at West Row on Sunday before returning to Monmore Green on Tuesday. And despite the fact that both sides are forced into changes due to Premier League clashes on Sunday, intense action is expected as they battle for top place ahead of the play-offs.Mildenhall boss Rob Henry said: When you see that we have Jason Garrity in for Cam (Heeps) and they have brought in Gary Irving who flies around here, I still reckon a terrific meeting is in store and it's still one where we will need to be at our absolute best with both clubs wanting to finish top of the table.Heathens manager Will Pottinger added: We have to go there and do our best before bringing them back to Monmore on Tuesday when we will be back to full strength.
