Walking with the Wounded black-tie dinner the perfect appetiser for Chelsea AutoLegends

The prestigious Great Hall at the Royal Hospital Chelsea will be welcoming London glitterati and British motorsport legends for a champagne reception, dinner and auction in aid of Armed Forces charity Walking with the Wounded on Saturday, 1st September. The black-tie event, which will open proceedings for the Chelsea AutoLegends Festival taking place in the iconic surrounds of the Grade I Listed building the following day, will see five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell MBE and personalities from the British Women Racing Drivers Club (BWRDC) joined by city business figures and automotive enthusiasts.A private viewing at 6pm will be followed by a champagne reception at 7pm, courtesy of fine art and fast motoring aficionado Richard Gauntlett. This will provide guests with the chance to take in the magnificent grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, including the impressive Figure Court, a garden dominated by the golden statue of Charles II who, for one night only, will overlook a fabulous collection of modern and vintage Ferraris. In total there will be over fifty best in the show vehicles at the charity dinner, with fine examples representing Le Mans, Formula 1, sports racers, classics and motorcycles.The party will then move to the striking Grand Hall. Adorned with 17th Century masterpieces, the Grade I building, designed by Christopher Wren, ensures that the evening is the premier dinner on the motoring calendar. Throughout the evening, a silent auction will be conducted to raise funds for Walking with the Wounded.Dinner tickets are available from dinner@chelseaautolegends.com, with prices starting from 180 per person and 1,500 for a table of ten.

On Sunday, 2nd September, Chelsea AutoLegends will display over 500 cars and bikes ranging from early 20th century classics to modern day supercars. The festival is one of the countrys leading car events and, for 2012, will be focusing on Le Mans, F1 and women in motorsport tributes. The events partners include EFG International, John D Wood & Co and HR Owen.
