Disappointment for Johnny Blackshaw at Cadwell Park

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw riding for Smiths Triumph was unfortunate to miss out on a podium position at Cadwell Park after a steering problem forced him to retire from the race on lap eight. JB had a bad start to the weekend as a big off in first practice did some severe damage to his Smiths Triumph. The team worked hard to get the bike sorted for the qualifying sessions and he was able to put a time him which saw him in sixth place on the grid.

Johnny gained an awesome start in the race and was through to third after the opening lap and was battling hard with the leaders. The front two soon made a break but JB was fighting hard to keep on the remaining podium position, leader Dixon crashed out at the Mountain top and this promoted JB to second place. He was soon locked in a battle with Joe Collier and for second place and Joe was pushing hard. Johnny suffered a steering problem down the back straight and was soon forced out of the race and third position.

Johnny - "It was a pretty frustrating weekend for me as Cadwell Park is one of my favourite circuits and I really wanted to get a decent result there. I had a pretty big crash on Saturday morning in practice and I did a fair bit of damage to the Smiths Triumph. The boys worked really hard to get it fixed but there were still a few issues that we didn't get to the bottom of. I lost a lot of that session and managed to do ok in qualifying. I got a great start but was having a small problem with the quick-shifter and so things were a little harder. I worked really hard and was happy in the position I was sitting when I had a problem with the steering at the bottom of the back straight then again into the Gooseneck. I thought it was for the better that I made the right decision to pull out of the race before it went really wrong, I was totally gutted but didn't want to risk hurting myself. We just have to look forward now to Donington Park in a couple of weeks time."
