Team Parker Racing stars Sam Tordoff and Daniel Lloyd emerged with podium finishes from a bruising weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill. The twisty, undulating Scottish circuit lived up to its reputation for drama, with numerous accidents hampering the charge of the Team Parker Racing drivers.Yorkshireman Tordoff emerged best from qualifying, taking third on the grid for both races as rain struck at the mid-point of the session. That put him in a good position for both races, and in the first he was in excellent form to finish third, keeping up his title challenge. In the second race Tordoff was eliminated as a result of contact at the first corner. Championship leader Michael Meadows swept across to claim the racing line, but Tordoff had his front end already in the gap and the two made contact. With a damaged radiator leaking water, Tordoff was soon out of the race, but incidents and mechanical dramas for most of his rivals mean he retains second in the championship.Fellow Yorkshireman Lloyd qualified fourth for race one but ran wide on the first lap. He then had a hectic battle with Team Parker Racing newcomer Andy Meyrick throughout the race. An energetic fight saw Lloyd emerging ahead at half-distance, but there was disaster after a late safety-car period.Meyrick thought he saw an opportunity to pass Lloyd into the first corner, but instead collided with Rory Butcher, who as he spun collected the Team Parker Racing car of Richard Plant, who had been carving his way through the field. The race was red-flagged with Lloyd classified fifth, while Meyrick was excluded from sixth.Lloyd ran as high as second in race two before finishing a solid third, but Meyrick was again out of luckhe was run off the road and into the barriers on the opening lap. Plant made up for his first-race retirement by enjoying another charge that this time brought him a fifth-place finish.Team principal Stuart Parker said: Everyone got caught out by the rain in qualifying. Sam managed to put two good laps in before the rain on his first set, but Dan only got one good lap time. Thats the luck of the draw though: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and we certainly lost.Sam had a clean first race. He was quick at the start and at the finish, and only lost some pace in the middle of the race, so we need to work out what happened there. It was a good controlled race for him. In the second race the collision with Meadows was just one of those things.Dan did a good race in that second one, and he was running well in the first, bouncing back from a mistake early on. Andy was unlucky to get shoved out of the way in that first race, and the incident later on he has been man enough to hold his hands up to and apologise for. We felt gutted for Planty in that onehed driven a good race up the field and got knocked out of the race.Weve just got to take the positives away from a weekend where we ended up with three cars in the bodyshop and two that needed virtually every panel straightening! OK, Meadows has extended his championship lead, but at least Sam retains his second place thanks to Butcher having a non-finish and Jonas Gelzinis getting a low score. It just seems that when things go 50 per cent wrong for us, they go 50 per cent right for the others! Were beavering away for the next round at Rockingham.PIERCE MISSES OUT ON WIN BUT CLAIMS SECONDDerek Pierce was the teams only representative in the pro-am1 class at Knockhill, and came away from the weekend with a strong second place in the JD Pierce with Team Parker car.But it could have been even better for Pierce, whose company built the Knockhill pits. He qualified on pro-am1 class pole for race one and was leading comfortably when he spun off the road and into the gravel at the exit of the chicane at two-thirds distance. In the second race Pierce was running second in class and, in tandem with pro-am1 leader Ahmad Al Harthy, he rose up the overall order and was running fifth on the penultimate lap. Unfortunately, a clash with team-mate Richard Plant at the hairpin spun Pierce down to seventh, but he still claimed second in class.Team principal Stuart Parker said: Derek did a really good job in qualifying and was running well in the first race. He still doesnt know what he did wrong at the chicane, but he just lost the car and ended up sitting in the kitty-litter. He had another very strong run later on and he got his just reward with second in class. As part of the ultra-popular British Touring Car Championship package, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB enjoyed live coverage from Knockhill on ITV4 and ITV4 HD, and was streamed live at itv.com/touringcars. The next round is at Rockingham in Northamptonshire on September 22/23.
