LEICESTER completed an unbeaten home Premier League programme with a 54-42 victory over fellow play-off hopefuls Workington. The Lions, who had Magnus Karlsson back in-form with 12+1, still have three away matches to complete and currently hold a 12-point cushion on the teams outside the top six.Co-promoter Alan Jones said: Collectively it was possibly the best performance at home this season. You aim for all seven to click at once and we were very close to that goal on this occasion. If I was to single one person out it would be Lewis Blackbird who not only scored paid seven, his best yet but the manner in which he earned them.

SCUNTHORPE edged closer to a top-two finish in the Premier League with a 54-39 win over Plymouth at the Eddie Wright Raceway. The Scorpions had Michael Palm Toft (13+2), Thomas Jorgensen (13+1) and Josh Auty (12) all in double-figures as they covered well for the absences of Nick Morris (international duty) and David Howe (injury).Manager Richard Hollingsworth said: That was another impressive performance where we kept last places to a minimum; much like Friday at Edinburgh. The team are clicking into gear and we won well twice this weekend without Nick Morris.Weve got ten days to find a replacement for David Howe but it doesnt look like it is going to happen. Rider replacement has served us well this weekend and it is a lot easier having it at number two.(SPEEDWAY 3)
LUDVIG Lindgren scored a full maximum as Newcastle kept themselves well on-course for the Premier League play-offs with a convincing win over Rye House. The Diamonds racked up a 62-30 scoreline and are now just two points off the top of the table, with matches in hand on the three teams above them.Manager George English said: This was the match where we returned to prove were a force to be reckoned with, and that can only send signals to our fellow play-off contenders that we mean business and are eager once more for glory, and with Ludvig Lindgren in superb maximum form were up for it all.(SPEEDWAY 4)
MILDENHALL co-promoter Michael Lee thanked riders from both sides for enabling Sundays National League fixture against Kings Lynn to be completed in difficult conditions. The Fen Tigers won 55-36 with Joe Jacobs dropping just one point from six rides, and Lee also confirmed the club are closing in on a new signing ahead of the play-offs.He said: Before the meeting everything was looking so good, I fully expected the track record to be broken. Then came the rain that no one was expecting, which at the midway point made conditions very difficult. But all of the riders from both teams wanted to give it a go, which was great, and I'd like to thank everybody from King's Lynn for sticking with it.

STOKE boss Malcom Vasey says the Potters need to raise their game if they are to secure qualification for the National League play-offs.Vaseys side were beaten 50-43 at Scunthorpe on Sunday, with Tommy Fenwick scoring a career-best 9+1 for the home side, setting up a tight scrap for play-off places behind Dudley and Mildenhall.Vasey said: Im extremely disappointed that we have come away with nothing from tonights meeting and have made it quite clear that Im also disappointed with some parts of the team who are not scoring the points that Id have expected from them.We are now up against it in the race for the play-offs and that makes Saturday against Mildenhall extremely important for us. I hope the supporters will get behind the lads as we look to secure a top four spot.(FIXTURES)
