BELLE Vue put a dent in Eastbournes play-off aspirations with an impressive 55-36 victory at Kirkmanshulme Lane. The Aces had been heavily beaten at Arlington on Saturday but ended the Eagles hopes of a double despite the mid-meeting withdrawal of No.1 Rory Schlein on medical advice due to neck pain after a crash.Belle Vue boss Jason Attwood said: Out of the three home meetings I have won, this was by far the best. Eastbourne came here to take four points away with them and that fired us up.We all had a chat before the meeting and Saturday's humiliation at Arlington really hurt the riders. They are all professionals and Rory did a captain's role in the dressing room to set the marker down.

WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off a stunning last-gasp 47-43 win over Lakeside on a dramatic night of Elite League action at Monmore Green.Wolves were staring defeat in the face with three heats remaining as they were eight-points downbut they finished the meeting with three consecutive 5-1s, two of them from in-form top duo Tai Woffinden and Freddie Lindgren, leaving the Purfleet men having to settle for a consolation point.Wolves boss Peter Adams said: We should have closed this meeting out comfortably but for the first ten races I thought we were still at Coventry as we only had four riders doing anything.Luckily Pontus (Aspgren) came alive towards the end and Freddie and Woffy were able to defeat PK (Peter Karlsson) twice near the end which was important obviously.

EDINBURGH star Andrew Tully performed well for the Monarchs last weekend in spite of a damaging theft of equipment suffered on Friday.Tullys regular Edinburgh speedway bike, a BMX bike and two mountain bikes belonging to Adam McKinna were stolen. He said: Losing my speedway bike has been giving me nothing but headaches since I opened my garage on Friday morning. Wherever it is sitting, it cant be used because it hasnt got clutch plates in it. Its no use to anyone, but it is my livelihood.Several of my friends in speedway have given me the offer of loans of equipment which of course I am very grateful for. But Id still like to think there might be a chance of getting my own bike back.

SOMERSET and Swindon star Jason Doyle is set for an x-ray after a weekend crash in Poland which may have left him with a broken jaw.Doyle is chasing major honours at both Elite and Premier League levels and is hopeful that the scans will not show serious damage.Somerset promoter Debbie Hancock said: Obviously, if confirmed, this is a big blow to our Championship ambitions. All we can do at this stage of things though is to cross our fingers and hope that the x-rays show that there is no break and that Doyley will be back riding for us sooner rather than later.(SPEEDWAY 5)
