SWINDON will head to Elite League leaders Poole on Monday just two points behind the Pirates after a 56-39 win over Belle Vue at Blunsdon on Thursday.The Robins still have a match in hand in the race for top spot ahead of the play-offs having convincingly beaten the Aces with Peter Kildemand and Simon Stead heading their scorechart.Boss Alun Rossiter said: Everyone did their job for the team which gives us confidence going into Mondays meeting. We always thought we would win but we had to go into it with the right attitude because if we didnt it could have become a bit of a banana skin for us. BIRMINGHAM moved into the play-off places and are being closely followed by Peterborough as the top four race narrowed on Thurday.The Brummies completed a double over Kings Lynn with a 51-41 win at Perry Barr, a result which ends the Stars chances of qualifying for the Elite League title shootout.Peterborough remain one point behind Birmingham but both are now ahead of Lakeside after the Panthers 57-36 win over the Hammers at the Showground.Brummies star Josh Auty said: I was very happy with my night. I rode really good and was like a different rider compared to last night (at Kings Lynn). We know the job isnt done yet and we need to pick up some points in the remaining meetings to make sure we get into the play-offs.

IPSWICH moved back ahead of Edinburgh in the battle for top-six places in the Premier League with a dramatic 48-41 win over the Monarchs.The Witches took maximum points at Foxhall with Dakota North pulling off a vital pass on Andrew Tully in Heat 15 to raise the margin to the all-important seven on the night.Ipswich now hold sixth place in the table, two points ahead of the Monarchs who have three matches in hand, and Fridays return fixture at Armadale is crucial.Elsewhere Newcastle missed the chance to go top as they were beaten 54-38 at Sheffield, and Redcar moved ahead of Berwick with a thumping 63-26 win over the injury-hit Bandits.

THE 2012 British Youth Championship titles will be decided in a bumper 35-race programme at Sittingbourne on Sunday (midday).14-year-old Nathan Greaves leads both 500cc and 250cc classes and could become the first rider to become a double Champion in the same season.But in each class there are three other competitors who could also take overall victory, with Danny Phillips just three points behind going into the 500cc event, whilst Greaves leads Kelsey Dugard by nine at 250cc level.The meeting also includes 125cc support races including newly-crowned British Champion Tom Brennan and last years winner Henry Atkins.British Youth bosses also wish to place on record their sincere thanks to their 2012 sponsors who have provided much support: Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, Friends of Speedway, Wessex Marine and Duck Smart Cleaning Products.
