SCUNTHORPE No.1 Josh Auty is hoping track knowledge will be of assistance when he lines up in the Premier League Riders Championship at Sheffield on Sunday.Auty spent three years with the Tigers before moving on last winter, and his form for both the Scorpions and also in the Elite League with Birmingham makes him one of the strong favourites for the showpiece event.Auty said: Having ridden for Sheffield for a few years I know the track pretty well. It is a good venue and everything is good about it. It is a good fast track that I enjoy riding and I will be trying to make a bit of home advantage count for sure.It is a strong field but I am having a good season so I am pretty confident. Anything can happen in those sorts of meetings but as I say I like the track and know it quite well which helps. I will just go there and see what I can do.

BIRMINGHAM boss Phil Morris says his side will be concentrating on their own job as they look to secure play-off qualification on the final night before the Elite League cut-off.The Brummies need to avoid defeat by more than 12-points at home to Swindon, or hope Peterborough lose at Coventrybut Morris wants a win to make sure.He said: Im not interested in what Peterborough do to be honest, I just want to focus on my own team and that means beating Swindon. If we do that then we havent got to worry about what Peterborough do, points difference or anything. The Brummies promotion are offering reduced admission (10 adults) for fans who send a text message to the club on 07818 033766 with the words Speedway Offer.(SPEEDWAY 3)

INJURY-HIT Peterborough have called on two of their former riders for Wednesdays last-gasp bid to reach the play-offs when they visit Coventry. The Panthers need to avoid defeat at Brandon to move into the top fourbut their hopes were dealt a big blow with Mondays events at Belle Vue, when both Ryan Sullivan and Linus Sundstrom were injured.Sundstrom was already missing the trip to Coventry, with Rory Schlein booked to guest, and the Panthers have now brought in Mads Korneliussen to stand-in for Sullivan.Boss Jan Staechmann said: Basically weve got to got to Coventry and give it absolutely everything and see if we can pull off an upset. Theres nothing we can do about the injury situation but we can still make it and well be doing our utmost to get the right result.

WORKINGTON have been boosted by the news that free-scoring reserve Kyle Howarth is fit to resume racing - and will be back in the team to face Leicester at Derwent Park on Saturday evening.Howarth was then joined on the injury list in subsequent weeks by Kenny Ingalls, Adam Roynon and Tero Aarnio, but his recovery is a welcome piece of good news for the Comets.Boss Tony Jackson said: When Kyle got injured at Newcastle at the end of July it upset the balance of the team and we never really recovered as he was scoring well above his average. Initially it seemed that he would miss the rest of the season but when he called me on Tuesday morning to say that he was ready to ride on Saturday I was absolutely delighted. Im sure this will give everyone connected with the club a great boost, which is just what we need as we head towards the most critical part of the season where there are some important trophies to be won.
