Triumph expert Stephen Hall will split his time between his faithful TR4 and a Mk1 Ford Escort in the 2004 Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
Whilst retaining his very effective TR4 for the tarmac rounds of the championship, Hall will tackle the season opening Robin Hood Forest Stages in a left-hand drive Escort from the Iain Freestone stable. He is keen to try the Escort with a view to tackling the Roger Albert Clark Rally in November, and will enter the car on his local event in the Nottinghamshire forests. Based in Blidworth, Hall lives only a mile or so from one of the stages used on the Robin Hood.
"I haven't driven a Mk1 in anger for 20 years," says Hall, who will be co-driven by Aggie Foster. "Other than that, we'll do the tarmac rounds at Epynt, the Manx and the Tour of Flanders in the TR4."
Looking further ahead, Hall has started work on a Triumph TR7 V8 for the new HRCR Classic Stage Rally Championship. However, he expects the new car to take up to a year to be completed. "I reckon it'll happen for the 2005 Robin Hood," he said.
