AquaX seen by millions on ITV4

ITV COVERS RIVETT'S UNIQUE BID TO WIN TITLES ON LAND AND SEA IN ONE YEAR

Over one million armchair motorsport fans watched coverage of P1 AquaX yesterday when the popular jet ski series was featured on ITV4s live Dunlop British Touring Car Championship programme. The afternoon broadcast included a special feature on 300 Class rider Paul Rivetts quest to become a champion on sea and land in 2012.

Rivett, three time champion of the Renault UK Clio Cup, is halfway to achieving a history-making double of claiming sporting titles on land and sea in the same year after winning the P1 AquaX Sea-Doo Challenge in Weymouth on 15th/16th September.

The 33-year-old, from Banstead in Surrey, was behind the wheel of his PER HIRE/Stancombe Vehicle Engineering-run 2.0-litre car at Rockingham in Northamptonshire and won both races in front of ITV4s cameras to close the gap to current leader Jack Goff to just 15 points with four races to go.ITV4 anchorman Steve Rider referred to Pauls AquaX title whilst presenter Simon Hill talked to Paul about winning the inaugural Sea-Doo Challenge and its positive effect on his Clio Cup title bid.

During the finale of the P1 AquaX Championship season off the Dorset coast, Rivett secured the first part of his attempted 2012 double by adding his sixth Sea-Doo Challenge victory of the year, in his maiden campaign in the popular offshore jet-ski racing series, to scoop the title.

Even though missing the opening round due to his circuit racing commitments, Rivett improved markedly throughout the five-event season astride his Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 ski to overturn Steve Robinsons initial advantage and secure a memorable and richly deserved championship success.

Winning the Sea-Doo Challenge is a dream come true as I really didnt expect to take the title in my first season racing jet skis, said Rivett, Racing in AquaX this year was a completely new challenge for me and took me out of my comfort zone. But every time I rode the Sea-Doo I got quicker and that built my confidence. I had to learn quickly but loved improving every time I got on the ski, so racing in AquaX has been hugely satisfying for meits been a great experience.

Rivett, who is second in the Clio Cup standings, is now focused on eating into Goffs 15-point lead during the penultimate rounds at Silverstone on 6/7th October before the finale two weeks later at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
