HHC Motorsport increases Ginetta Junior lead
HHC Motorsport is celebrating keeping Charlie Robertson in the lead of the Ginetta Junior Championship, with an increased margin, after the Scotsman took two second places at Rockingham at the weekend. He is now 23 points ahead in the title race. Charlie headed to he Northamptonshire venue as the championship leader and maintained his series lead after his 11th podium finish from 16 races. Charlie took pole position for both races and secured two second places after a weekend of tough racing. Charlie was muscled down the order early on in the opening race after a tight scrum descended on the first hairpin. He fought his way back up the order but then clashed with championship rival Sennan Fielding and dropped to sixth place. Mindful of the need to score points, Charlie battled back to second place and missed a win by just three-tenths of a second after a tremendous recovery drive. There was a brush between Charlie and Fielding again in the second race, which did a little damage to the handling of Charlies Ginetta G40, but he was still able to secure second place and maintain his championship lead. Team-mate Will Palmer went into the weekend short on track knowledge having missed testing and had just 15 minutes of practice under his belt. He qualified ninth and 10th for the two races and was muscled back to 13th in the opener before he battled his way back up to 11th. Only a last-corner slide prevented him from being able to attack for 10th place. Will was in the thick of the action in race two as he rose to seventh place but then succumbed to the attack of the pack behind and fell to ninth at the flag.HHC Motorsports Charlie Kemp said: Weve been really pleased with the pace of the cars again this weekend and its great that Charlie is still leading the championship with an increased margin. Some of the racing was a bit robust at times but Charlie did a very good job of trying to keep out of trouble and score as many points as he could. Will did a great job as well given his lack of mileage here. His results dont fully reflect the pace he showed and his progress up the order showed how much his racecraft has improved over the season. The next stop for HHC Motorsport is Donington Park this weekend for the Total Quartz Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
