Chip Ganassi will probably be the busiestteam owner at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend with four of his teams'cars racing in the Grand Prix of Miami and Toyota INDY 300. The CompUSA ChipGanassi Racing with Felix Sabates team will field the No. 01 and No. 02Lexus Riley XI in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series race onSaturday, and the Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team willfield the No. 1 and No. 10 cars in the IRL IndyCar Series race on Sunday.
"It looks like I'm going to be VERY busy this weekend and spending most ofmy time in pit lane," joked Ganassi. "All kidding aside, there isn'tanything I would rather be doing. It's a lot of work, but Chip GanassiRacing is made up of such a strong grouping of hard working people thatunderstand what it means to be a team. And that is what this is about, wemay have different cars in different series but it is a total ONE teameffort. That has been the key to our successes, and I am very proud of that."
In the team's debut Rolex Series race, CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing withFelix Sabates driver Scott Pruett put the No. 01 Lexus Riley on the pole forthe Rolex 24 At Daytona. After being plagued with cockpit ventilation woesduring heavy rain storms, the team finished 10th overall and sixth in classin its maiden voyage.
The team also announced at the Rolex 24 that it would add a second DaytonaPrototype to its stable for the remainder of the season. Mexican driversJimmy Morales and Luis Diaz will debut the team's No. 02 Lexus Riley in thisweekend's Grand Prix of Miami, complementing Pruett and Max Papis in the No.01 Lexus.
Qualifying for the Grand Prix of Miami will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday,with the green flag falling on round two of the Rolex Series on Saturday at3 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale for the Grand Prix of Miami, as well asthe entire Toyota INDY 300 weekend, online at homesteadmiamispeedway.com.
