Michelin is continuing to work with track day organisers Porsche Club GB and RMA together with track day enthusiasts during 2004 to provide the best technical advice regarding tyres. This can be particularly important in enhancing the performance of powerful cars, both on and off the track.
Tyre advice is provided at the circuit by Michelin technical experts in association with the official service provider for track days, Hutchison Motorsport, who attend Porsche Club GB and RMA events.
Highly recommended for track day use, the latest evolution Michelin Pilot Sport tyre was launched to the motoring press at the world famous Le Castellet circuit in southern France in 2003. The Pilot Sport is Michelin's ultra high performance sports road tyre, and is approved by car manufacturers such as Porsche, BMW Motorsport, Mercedes AMG and Ferrari; tests at Michelin's facility at Ladoux indicate the tyre redefines performance limits on these types of cars.
In addition to the new Pilot Sport, track days provide a fantastic opportunity for members to drive the ultimate road legal track tyre - the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. The Pilot Sport Cup is the control tyre for the Michelin Porsche Club Championship and brings world class dry performance and wear life in race conditions. This tyre is a genuine alternative to a slick, putting less stress on road cars' suspension components etc. whilst allowing members to drive to the track.
The Pilot tyre range benefits from Michelin's experience and expertise at the pinnacle of top level motorsport. Michelin continues to win races, rallies, and driver and manufacturers' titles in F1, World Rally and Le Mans, and supports Porsche racing all over the world.
