Caterham Festival Heads to Rockingham This Weekend

MOTOR racing fans are in for a real treat this weekend (October 6/7) when the Caterham Festival heads to Rockingham in association with the British Sports Car Club (BRSCC).Widely accepted as some of the closest and most exciting racing in UK motorsport, the world famous sports cars will be descending on the Northamptonshire circuit for the finale of six Caterham championships.With four titles still to be settled and the battle for runner-up positions being squabbled over, the Festival is expected to be a real delight for enthusiasts of racing, overtaking and general mayhem.Paul Wilson looks set to win the prestigious BookaTrack.com Caterham Superlight R300 crown, though the Avon Tyres Supersport champion-elect, Aaron Head, steps up to the top category this weekend and no-one would bet against him taking the race wins.With Head having already secured the Supersport title in his R300, Lee Wiggins and Jeremy Webb continue their four-year battle, which started back in 2009 when the pair competed in the Caterham Academy, to see who is best, as they fight over the runner-up spot.The Avon Tyres Caterham Tracksports Championship has provided the closest racing all season with the top three separated by just 0.029s at the last race. Terry Langley will need to fend off David Robinson to secure the title, while Kurt Brady, Jon Mortimer, James Needham and Mike Hart all hope to bag third in the championship.Elliott Norris and Brad Smith are taking the Avon Tyres Caterham Roadsport battle to the wire. Smith has a slight advantage, needing to beat Norris in only one of the two 20 minute encounters to take the title, but thats much easier said than done.Alex Gurr has taken the Octane Caterham Academy Group 1 title, but will be looking to cap off the season with another win, making it six out of seven. Behind him an epic battle rages for second with four drivers all in with a shout.Jersey man Matthew Lawrence is favourite to be runner-up, while Matt Dyer, Brian Caudwell and Tristan Judge will all be looking to take home their first championship trophy, while Academy Group 2 is yet to be decided with Stephen Nuttall and Pete Fortune looking for the honours.Support races will be provided by the Quaife Intermarque League and Cannon Motor Spares Tin Top Challenge on Saturday (October 6), while Rockingham Enduro and Teekay Couplings Productions Gti Championship will be action on Sunday (October 7).Rockingham Director, Charlotte Orton, said: Caterhams have always been a firm favourite among the club racing community, and we are delighted they are back at Rockingham to headline this weekends event.The Caterhams are very exciting to watch with close racing designed to thrill spectators, and the podium places are often decided by just a few hundredths of a second, which should make for a highly entertaining weekend.

Adult tickets are just 15 per day and admission for children aged 16 or under is FREE, so families can enjoy a day out together at an affordable price. Advance ticket can be booked online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the ticket hotline on 01536 500500 until midday Friday (October 5), however spectators will be able to purchase them on the gate.Spectators who attended the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race weekend at Rockingham, can bring their BTCC tickets back and save 5 on admission for the Festival, making entry to one of the race days great value at just 10.All tickets include a grandstand seat with a unique panoramic view of the entire circuit, and access to the race paddock, allowing a unique insight into the hard work behind the scenes from the teams. Racing starts at 9am on Saturday, and 10am on Sunday.
