POOLE captain Chris Holder will lead his team into the Elite League play-offs having been crowed World Champion in Saturdays Torun Grand Prix.Holder finished eight points clear overall of fierce rival Nicki Pedersen, with the two riders clashing dramatically in the semi-final and Holder then winning the re-run to secure the title. He said: Its unbelievable. Im so happy right now. You race speedway to be the World Champion. You always believe you can be the champ and not many guys get to do it.You can only imagine how much pressure I had coming up to this meeting with me being in such a good position at the last round. I was trying to stay cool and not think about it. Youve just got to try and stay calm and it went off well.

GLASGOWS immediate future has been secured with the announcement of new ownership for the 66-year-old club. The Tigers will remain in the Premier League in 2013 under the control of new majority shareholder Alun Biggart, a Copenhagen-based fan of the Ashfield outfit, who will link with former promoter Gordon Pairman.Biggart said: Gordon and I are very appreciative of our fans displaying their passion for their club, as well as to the previous owners for keeping the club going over a period of mixed fortunes. The club has been through a difficult period these past few years but it has survived and we have some amazing and dedicated fans who love their speedway and who got behind our announcement and are clearly buying into our vision to take their club forward.

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey believes a maximum-points win over Workington on Sunday could well be enough to secure a place in the Premier League play-off Final. The Scorpions were beaten 50-39 by the Comets at Derwent Park on Saturday but will be boosted by the return of Josh Auty for the return fixture.Godfrey said: Weve got Josh back, which is a big boost, while Richard Hall is good around our place. It is going to be a big, big day. If we can get three points from that, we should be OK, although we still need the other results to go the way we expect them to.In the other play-off group, Leicester defeated Newcastle 50-40 with the sides set to do battle again at Brough Park on Sunday.

DUDLEY boss Will Pottinger says the priority will be for his side to keep the National League Knockout Cup Final as close as possible for the second leg at Monmore Green later this month. The first leg takes place at Mildenhall on Sunday and the Heathens are without Ashley Morris who is riding for his Premier League club Workington, whilst the Fen Tigers have the same situation with Lewis Blackbird who is riding for Leicester. The rider replacement facility will be in operation for both.Said Pottinger: Weve been to Mildenhall earlier this season and kept the scores close and that has to be the priority for us.We will go there with a positive attitude to try and win on the day but if not run them as close as possible.
