BRITISH CREW AIMING TO SET NEW PANTHER SPEED RECORD AT CONISTON NEXT WEEK

A new national speed record for the P1 Panther 28SS will be set at the annual Coniston Power Boat Records Week, following an entry in the end of season meeting by Will and Iain Nurse.

The son and father team will set the first ever national speed record for the class in the UK at the helm of the Edox Swiss Watches-backed boat  in the week-long event which starts on Monday, 5th November.

Will, from Winchester, admits he is drawn by the sheer adrenalin rush of record runs. Ive been back to Coniston every November for 10 years as there is nothing that compares to the out and out speed of record runs, he commented. Trimming the boat for maximum speed without compromise is really thrilling for the crew and we both get a buzz from running close to the edge.

Coniston speed week is renowned as the final race meeting of the year where all classes of powerboat come together in a celebration of the sport. Dad has been going since the 1970s and has set many class records himself, so it will be great to team up, added Will.

Edox will feature in record runs on the famous lake every day through to midday on Friday, 9th November when the record will be declared. P1 SuperStock UKs website and social media channels will be regularly updated throughout the week with news of Will and Iains progress.

There is also a bit of national pride at stake for the British crew, as in addition to setting a national record they also want to become recognised as the worlds fastest Panther crew and beat the UIM record for the Panther set in the USA in April.

Livorsi Marine pilots Andrew Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein established the first ever speed record for the Panther boat at Biloxi, Mississippi with a two-way average speed of 68.286mph over a one kilometre course.
