(SPEEDWAY 1)WORKINGTON have made rising British star Kyle Howarth their third signing for 2013 – joining Richard Lawson and Rene Bach as returnees from this year’s Comets team. Co-promoter Tony Jackson said: “I know the fans will be extremely happy that we have been able to keep hold of Kyle, but to be honest doing a deal with him was easy as we always wanted him back and he only ever wanted to come back to Derwent Park having enjoyed it so much with the Comets last season. “The progress that Kyle made in 2012 was astonishing and I can’t speak highly enough of him. He is a very level-headed and polite young man who is a real pleasure to deal with. Then, once out on the track he shows a maturity beyond his years, and some of his races last season were unbelievable to watch. I’m sure that he can build on that experience and make further progress in the sport over the coming season. “He has recently been on the telephone from Australia, where he is currently enjoying a racing holiday, and he is already excited about being back with us next year.”(SPEEDWAY 2)PETERBOROUGH star Kenneth Bjerre has received good news from a hospital visit as he bids to step up his recovery from a broken leg. The Dane suffered the injury in a crash at the Showground in late August which ended his season, but he is now off crutches. Bjerre is now able to start light work on his leg at the gym with a winter of training ahead in order to be fit to resume racing next March. Bjerre said: “It was really nice to get this happy news, a sign that everything is as it should be. Now I can start building muscle again, so I can be ready for the 2013 season. This bodes well.”
