LAKESIDE co-promoter Jon Cook says the loan swap deal involving Lewis Bridger and Adam Shields should prove good business for both the Hammers and Eastbourne.Bridger has moved to Purfleet with a proven record at the venue having finished second in the Lee Richardson Memorial meeting in September, whilst Lakeside asset Shields has re-joined the Eagles after taking time out of the sport this year.Cook said: It's a great move for Lewis and Adam as both need a new start in familiar surroundings, and for our part we are confident we can get Lewis back on the path towards heat-leader status and international achievement. He is still one of the most talented motorcyclists in this Sport and I will be working with him to achieve his goals.I am pleased Adams love for speedway has returned and, after a rough few years, it makes sense that he returns at a track where he feels most comfortable. He's been a great servant to the Hammers but it's not the greatest secret that he didn't always enjoy having the Raceway as a home track.

ELITE League champions Swindon have been handed a massive boost ahead of the defence of their title. The Abbey Stadium club, who defeated Poole last month to claim their first top flight title since 1967, have joined forces with local I.T and mobile communications specialist Excalibur Communications Ltd in a title sponsorship deal which is the biggest in the Robins history.Co-promoter Gary Patchett said: This is fantastic news for us and we are delighted that Excalibur CEO James Phipps has identified the part that the Robins can play in developing the Excalibur brand. The title sponsorship, racesuits and sponsored vehicle are obviously the most visible part of the deal but we have agreed a partnership that will see a coordinated effort that will culminate in a closer association between our two businesses and the local community. As Elite League Champions there can be no better time to seize upon this opportunity.

TEENAGE Australian Mason Campton will switch from Glasgow to Workington next season with a deal agreed to make him a full Comets asset.Campton said: I am really excited to ride at Workington next year, I cant wait. I love Workington and the track and there is plenty of support there. I get on well with all the boys named in the team so far and I am looking forward to next season already, it is going to be awesome.Comets co-promoter Tony Jackson said: Mason rode for us as a guest on several occasions last season and he never let us down. He fitted in very well with everyone and was a pleasure to deal with. On one occasion he even travelled all the way down from his base near Glasgow to guest for us at Plymouth, then when he got there he top-scored. That performance really impressed me. He has got a great attitude and, having had a solid first season in Britain, we feel that he can now build on that next season and beyond, which is why we made the offer to purchase him outright from Glasgow.

SCUNTHORPE have announced they will not be entering a team in the National League next yearalthough they do hope to return in 2014.The club have won the third-tier title three times in the last seven seasons but will focus on their Premier League title defence next year, although their thriving amateur, practice and mini-track programme will continue.Promoter Rob Godfrey said: Obviously, the economic storm that has hit us has had a devastating effect on every club in British speedway, not just us, and that's one of the main reasons. Everyone has to look to tighten their belts and we are no exception and one way we looked at tightening the belt was with the Saints.I have tried everything to keep the team going but have had to admit defeat at this point to enable the riders we have left to get fixed up with other clubs, which hopefully we will be able to do. The National League still has a lot to offer but, at the moment, we are just not in a position to be a part of it.
