Two local men are participating in the 2004 Flora London Marathon to raise funds for BEN - the motor and allied trades benevolent fund, based in Ascot. Mike May, Director of the MGM Motor Company in Winkfield, who lives in Egham, and Andrew Ogierman from Maidenhead, who is the charity's volunteer co-ordinator.
Both men are hoping to raise at least £1500 each for the charity. They are experienced runners, having competed in a number of half marathons, but neither has run the London Marathon before.
Andrew has already received sponsorship from the Delta Motor Company, Renault dealers in Maidenhead, and Platts of Marlow.
As a warm up both men competed in last weekend's Reading Half-Marathon prior to the big event on 18 April. Anyone wishing to sponsor either or both please contact Andrew Ogierman on 01344 620191.
BEN is the motor and allied trades benevolent fund and was founded in 1905. The charity offers support, advice and assistance to more than 15,750 men, women and their dependants in their own homes and the four residential centres and one day care centre located throughout the UK.
