SUPERSTARS Nico Caldarola, Roma Racing Team, aim for more success in 2013

After rounding out the 2012 season in-style at Pergusa, Roma Racing Team is already looking forward to next season. Driver and team-owner Nico Caldarola went on-track himself this year but also provided some great young drivers with a chance to make their way to the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES and he is set to maintain the same level of effort in 2013.

Following to the great results scored at the start of the season, with Caldarola proving a top-10 runner all-weekend long at Monza, a stunning third-place finish was achieved at Imola by 17-year-old Andrea Boffo, who made his debut in touringcar competition. Then at Mugello, Indonesian Ananda Mikola delivered a 4th place in Race 2.

A new challenge started at Vallelunga with the debut of a new Stuttgart-built racer, the Mercedes C63 AMG Coup, which provided improved weight balance and a completely revamped set-up configuration. While the new car still needs work in terms of development, it proved great potential and is already viewed by many as a future weapon of choice in the FG GROUP-promoted championship.

It's been a grand finale for the team at Pergusa, as Luigi Ferrara brought the Roma Racing colors to the overall podium. The Apulia-based racer, driving a four-door model, capped a positive weekend with a second-place finish in Race 2. Despite missing the win by a tight margin, Caldarola and his team will be back in contention - they are already focused in fighting for victory and being top title contenders for 2013.

'Without a doubt it's been a positive year for us - said Caldarola - Although we weren't contending for the overall title, we focused on developing a new type of car that we reckon will move this championship's evolution forward. Our team is still young but we proved we can aim for the top spots. In 2011, and after just four races, we went to the top of the podium for our maiden win with Luca Rangoni. And this season I'm very proud to have achieved the Star Drivers title'.
