The Graham Hill Trophy was presented to the RSFs James Calado at the same BRDC event, for the most meritorious performance by a British driver in single-seater racing in 2012.Commenting on the Awards, Derek Walters of the Racing Steps Foundation: This, the fifth year of the RSF, has been the best year so far. It is very gratifying to see exceptional young race driving talent being recognised in this way. We look forward to more success in 2013.In addition to the prized silverware, 2012 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner Jake Dennis, 17, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, wins 100,000, a McLaren F1 test drive, membership of the BRDC and a commemorative TW Steel watch.Following the Autosport Awards presentation, the elated teenager said: "It's hard to bring your emotions across in a situation like this. It's such a relief to win."It's incredible for me and a great way to say thank you to the Racing Steps Foundation for all the support they have given me over the years."I had a great season this year with Fortec Motorsports which hopefully I can repeat in seasons to come."Dennis, the 24th winner, joins the likes of current F1 drivers Jenson Button and Paul di Resta on the award's roll of honour. His fellow finalists comprised NEC title rivals Jordan King (18) and Josh Hill (21) - who finished second and third in the championship - plus US Star Mazda Champion Jack Hawksworth (21), Eurocup Formula Renault competitor Melville McKee, and Formula Renault BARC runner-up Josh Webster (18).The six drivers pitted their skills against one another in a simulator and on-track in Formula 2, Mercedes DTM and McLaren GT cars at Silverstone last month. The fitness of the finalists was also put to the test at the Porsche Human Performance Centre at the Northamptonshire circuit.Assessing their respective skills was a panel of judges comprising Warwick, McLaren's head of vehicle engineering Mark Williams, two-times British Touring Cars champion Jason Plato, and seasoned DTM driver Jamie Green.Motorsports commentator Ian Titchmarsh and Autosport journalists Kevin Turner and Marcus Pye also had a say in the outcome.A series of interviews with the drivers at McLaren's Technology Centre in Woking completed the exhaustive appraisals process.Dennis is the third RSF driver to capture the prestigious prize. He follows in the tracks of Oliver Rowland, who won the award in 2011, and RSF graduate and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 test driver Oliver Turvey.Turvey secured the award in 2006, the year before he joined the Foundation.Fellow RSF drivers James Calado and Jack Harvey have also made the list of finalists in previous years.JAKE DENNIS RACE CVGeneral Age: 17 Born: Nuneaton, Warwickshire Lives: Nuneaton, Warwickshire2012 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC: Champion (3 wins, 3 poles, 11 podiums, 1 fastest lap) Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 (six races out of 14): 12th (1 podium)2011 InterSteps Championship: Champion (8 wins, 7 poles, 16 podiums, 6 fastest laps) Formula Renault UK Finals: 19th2010 CIK-FIA U18 World Karting Championship: World Champion (1 win, 1 podium finish) CIK-FIA World Cup: 8th CIK-FIA European Championship: 4th MSA Super 1 KF3 British Junior Championship: Champion (5 wins, 11 podium, 5 fastest laps, 1 record lap) ABkC KF3 0-Plate Championship: Champion KF3 Winter Series: Champion2009-2003 KF3 karting: 2009  Winter Series Vice-Champion (1 win, 2 podiums), MSA Super 1 British Junior Vice-Champion(3 wins, 1 pole, 6 podiums, 2 fastest laps), MSA Kartmasters Grand Prix runner-up (new lap record and Bruno Ferrari Memorial Trophy for 'outstanding drive' of GP), WSK International Series (9th), CIK-FIA European Championship (6th), KF3 CIK-FIA World Cup(2nd - 2 podiums).
