With only a few weeks left to go before the championship starts, the World Series Light had a 2 day collective test session on the Jarama circuit in Madrid. Amongst the 10 race car drivers present, Matteo Pellegrino was the main protoganist. On Monday, the young Italian race car driver, gained more confidence with Vergani Team’s single seater and worked on the car’s set up .On Tuesday, he set the new track record with 1.26.345. He beat Julien Vidot’s track record (1.26.742) by 4 decimals
It was an extremely positive session for Matteo who wants to be a leader in the World Series Light 2004 championship. In 2003, in the same series, Matteo competed with the RC Motorsport Team. He was 6th overall with three podiums and 93 points.

“The 2004 season has started on a good note. I debutted on the Vergani Team’s single seater in Barcelona a few days ago. On that day I had the chance to see how professional the team is. They immediately gave me a car that was well balanced and that was able to make me go fast right from the start. We worked on the set up of the car on Monday on the Jarama track but we didn’t make any major changes. We just worked on a few things to fine tune the car’s set up.
On the first day, we tested with old tyres and set the following time:1.27.675. However, on Tuesday after working on the set up, during the last few minutes,we decided to put on new tyres to run a few fast laps. This all worked well seeing that I managed to set the new track record. It was a very satisfying test but we can’t count our chickens before they hatch. The other competitors have proven to be very prepared and so we’ll have to fight long and hard to be in the lead.”
