LAKESIDE will host the first televised fixture of the new Elite League season when reigning Champions Swindon visit Pufleet on Monday March 25.The opening three live matches on Sky Sports HD will also feature a local derby between Birmingham and Coventry on March 27, and Swindons home clash with Kings Lynn on April 4.Lakeside co-promoter Jon Cook said: We feel its a real honour to have been chosen to launch the year and we are working with our sponsors to make it a night to remember for the fans present and a fitting start to the season of live speedway.Swindon co-promoter Gary Patchett added: This is a very exciting way for us to start the season and were delighted to be appearing on Sky as reigning champions.

RICHARD Hall has agreed terms for a return to Sheffield this season.Hall, 28, first rode for the Tigers in 2003 and represented the club in last years Premier League Riders Championship. He joins Simon Stead, Joe Haines, Facundo Albin, Damien Koppe and Jake Knight in the new-look Tigers team, with one spot to be filled.Hall said: Sheffield is my favourite track of all time and Im really pleased to have it as my home circuit.I really hope we can have a good season. Its great to have Simon Stead at the club and I do believe he can help the rest of the team.

RYE House have been handed a major boost ahead of the new seasonwith Tyson Nelson granted his visa to race in the UK.The young Australian rode for the Rockets in 2011 but was prevented by red tape from appearing at all last year. He plans to arrive in February to complete his mechanical preparations.Promoter Len Silver said: This puts the final touch to the Rockets team that I have been waiting for.The youthful aspect of the side is very exciting, together with the experience that Jason Bunyan and Olly Allen will bring, and Hoddesdon fans can look forward with optimism to the new season.(SPEEDWAY 4)

SOMERSET have confirmed the revised line-up for the re-staging of the Christmas Cracker at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday January 18.The original meeting was washed-out over the festive period and co-ordinator Garry May has now made the required changes whilst also announcing that a number of other events, including vintage and pit-bike racing, will still take place.May said: Obviously it would have been great if all of the original 16 riders were able to ride in next Fridays re-staging, but that just wasnt to be as work and other commitments for some of the original field meant we had to find some replacements, which was no easy task.But after making what seemed to be a never-ending number of phone calls and sending countless text messages, we have now completed the field and it is all systems go for the 18th.LINE-UP: Ricky Ashworth, Ben Barker, Lewis Bridger, Ryan Fisher, Richard Hall, Ritchie Hawkins, David Howe, Lewis Kerr, Simon Lambert, Ashley Morris, Kyle Newman, Lewis Rose, Jacob Thorssell, Steve Worrall, Charles Wright, James Wright, Brendan Johnson (res).
