STEVE Bishop has stood down from his managerial role at Somerset due to increasing work and family commitments.Bishop, who was the clubs first-ever race winner back in 2000 in his riding days, still plans to be involved where possible with colleague Garry May now taking over as the Rebels main team manager.Bishop said: This doesnt mean that fans will no longer see me at the Oaktree Arena, but it wont be every Friday night, though when I am there I am more than happy to support Garry. I think hes ready for the role now having served his apprenticeship under me.May added: Steve has been a great bloke to work with and had become a real mate. We worked really well as team and what he doesnt know about the sport isnt worth knowing, especially when helping out the younger guys in the team, but it is good to know that Steve will still be around in the pits to help out as and when time permits.

CLAUS Vissing will be looking to impress British promoters when he takes his place in the Ben Fund Bonanza at Berwick on March 9.The Dane, who rode for Somerset last season, is currently without a team place in this country but insists he still wants to ride here.Vissing said: I want a team place in Britain but so far it hasnt worked out. Im really keen to find a team, all my bikes and workshop are ready. Of course I want to make a living but money doesnt have to be a big issue, I want to have some fun and do what I really love. Also I wanted to ride for the Ben Fund because it has done so much for the riders. They help us so why should I not help them? I have ridden Berwick before one time, with Stoke a couple of years ago.
