Porsche and Pirelli Get Together for a Slick Future

Pirelli UK are the new tyre supplier to the prestigious Porsche Club Championship race series, a three year agreement once more linking the two famous motorsport names. The deal will add an exciting new element to the Porsche Club Championship with racers for the first time having slick tyres to race on as well as wet-weather tyres for the events where the British weather reverts to form.For an initial three-year period, the partnership reaffirms long term ties between the two organisations, Pirelli have been a supporter of the Clubs racing activities in the past, the Pirelli Porsche Cup having been a major UK race series in the 1990s, and at least one of the cars currently racing in the series also took to the track Pirelli-shod in those daysthe 993 campaigned by Richard Bennett which Johnny Mowlem took to the 1997 Porsche Cup title.Renewing the Porsche Club relationship with Pirelli will be good for the Clubs competitors and our motorsport overall, explained Porsche Club GB motorsport manager Steve Kevlin. A move to slick tyres will increase the level of competition and improve lap times and we look forward to the next three years providing stability to the Clubs motorsport.Pirelli UK Tyre Motorsport Operations Manager Matthew Corby added: Our new partnership with Porsche is fantastic news for the company.
