MADS Korneliussen snatched victory in the Ben Fund Bonanza with a dramatic last-gasp pass of fellow countryman Claus Vissing in the Final at Berwick. The Kings Lynn man completed the meeting unbeaten and headed up an all-Danish top three including Vissing and Hans Andersen, with Danny King fourth, in front of a big crowd at Shielfield Park.Berwick boss and track curator Ian Rae said: I was a little concerned after the rain the track took over Friday, that night and over Saturday morning, but once it stopped and the breeze got up the track made a miraculous recovery, and even the deeper areas on the outside line of bend three proved to be very raceable once riders dared to move out.I couldnt have been happier with the track tonight, and with the 20 riders really performing well I think it was an excellent show to get a stack more cash into the Benevolent Funds vital coffers.(SPEEDWAY 2)
DARCY Ward has answered a late call to ride in Freddie Lindgrens Testimonial meeting at Wolverhampton on Sunday.Ward, a Grand Prix newcomer this season, comes in for triple World Champion Nicki Pedersen who picked up an injury in a practice session in Poland.Lindgren said: It was tough news to get when I landed in the UK that Nicki had to pull out due to injury, so I've worked extremely hard to get a good replacement. I got hold of Darcy in Poland practising, and he'll now fly in and race my meeting, which is great news. He's one of the most exciting riders to watch race at this time. He'll be one of the candidates to win with his natural ability on a bike.
