VLR confirm Templeman and Thomas for Carrera Cup

Team VLR has confirmed its driver line-up for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, with Jason Templeman and Marcus Thomas set to make a formidable driver squad for the team headed by Vic Lee.

Templeman is widely regarded as a major title contender, having finished third in the 2003 Carrera Cup. Now, with a season's experience in the championship behind him, the Nottingham racer is likely to add to the race victory he scored at Oulton Park last September.

Thomas, meanwhile, steps up to the Carrera Cup having raced Caterhams and Renault Clios last season under the guidance of Lee's team. The former motocross racer has limited race experience to date, but is already settling in well to his new environment.

"I think it's good to have one experienced driver in the squad," says Lee. "It is working very well having Jason in the team. He's very sensitive to changes in the car." Templeman underlined his title contender status by setting the pace amongst the registered competitors during the Carrera Cup test day at Snetterton on Tuesday (16 March).

Thomas is busy gaining experience of his Porsche 911GT3 Cup and Lee recognises that he has a major learning process ahead of him. "All last year was about getting Marcus ready for the Carrera Cup this season," says Lee. "He's on a steep learning curve, but he's working well."
