Corridan plans Carrera Cup debut

Racing newcomer Michael Corridan will contest the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season with BEAST Racing. Corridan (39), who has become involved in motor racing by sponsoring Rob Collard in the BTCC, is now facing a race against time to gain his National A race licence ahead of the opening races at Thruxton on 11 April.

Corridan, from Sudbury in Suffolk, has no previous race experience other than competing in schoolboy motocross some years ago. "I've always had a hankering to do it," he admits, having taken the plunge to start racing. "Other than motocross, I've done no motorsport before."

However, having supported Collard in recent seasons, Corridan is now keen to contest the Carrera Cup. "I've got moral support from Rob," he says. "But there is a lot to take on board and understand," he admits.

At BEAST Racing, he will line up alongside Richard Westbrook and David Pinkney. "I'm very fortunate to have two experienced team mates," reckons Corridan, who was able to accumulate useful mileage during the Carrera Cup test day at Snetterton last Tuesday (16 March).
