Falcon ready for Formula Ford take off

WITH THREE-CAR TEAM FOR BRANDS HATCH

Finn Lassi Halminen and Brit Neil Winn join Harrison Scott on Falcons driving strengthTeam ready for strong showing at Brands Hatch this weekend

Falcon Motorsport will field a three-car squad in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain. The Oxfordshire-based team confirmed today that 16-year-old Finn Lassi Halminen and multiple club Formula Ford champion Neil Winn, 20, will be joining Harrison Scott on the driving strength.

Halminen raced for Falcon in the Intersteps series in 2012, finishing sixth overall and with several podium results. The former karter from Kangasala is a star in the making, says Falcon boss Nick Streatfield: Lassi was very impressive last year - his pace was good although things didnt go his way as they should have. Hes a typical Finn in terms of his style and he will adapt very quickly to Formula Ford. We are expecting good thing from him.

Streatfield has high hopes also of Yorkshireman Winn, who arrives in Formula Fords premier category with a string of successes behind him in club racing. Law student Neil was a class victor in his first season in the Formula Ford Northern Championship in 2011 and last year claimed several race victories on his way to the Class A Northern and Champion of Oulton FF1600 titles. He was also a Walter Hayes Trophy finalist.

We have heard a lot of good things about Neil, said Streatfield, and we are looking forward to working with him. Despite his relatively late start in racing, Neil has gone well and has some impressive results already.

Winn is excited for the coming season but realistic with regard to this chances early on: The deal has come together very late and Im really happy to be on board with Falcon Motorsport, who took delivery of my car just last week. We hope to be out at Oulton Park on Wednesday for a shakedown, but being realistic we are going into Brands Hatch on the back foot and will have to treat it as a test weekend. Well see what we can achieve there but I am not expecting to be fully competitive.

Falcon Motorsport was formed in 1985 to run Streatfield himself in British Formula Ford. The team ran three cars in the championship in 1992 and 93 and subsequently went on to race in British F3, UK Formula Renault and Intersteps. With 17-year-old Harrison Scott at the wheel of a new Mygale chassis, the team has covered valuable testing miles in recent weeks. Both Halminen and Winn will be shaking down their cars at Oulton Park on Wednesday.

All three of its drivers will face their first competitive test of the season this coming Friday at Brands Hatch, where there will be two official test sessions ahead of Saturdays qualifying session and race one of the weekend. Two further races follow on Sunday.
