C.S Rallysport Ltd drivers Luke Pinder from Shipley and James Walker from Wakefield will benefit from a major sponsorship deal from Autocar Electrical Limited. Using the Lumenition brand name the drivers will use Lumenition roller barrel throttle bodies and ecu on a new Vauxhall Corsa 1400 16 valve, currently under construction at C.S Rallysport’s Darlington workshop. The team have also established a link with Northallerton based tuning specialist Motoscope who are a Lumenition dealer. Motoscope will install and set up the system. The data obtained during the season will be made available to Autocar in return for more technical support. as updates become available they will be tested on the rally car.
Prior to completion of the new car Walker and co-driver Paul Wardell will use the C.S Rallysport hire Peugeot 106 Rallye on next weeks North Humberside Rally, entered into the N1 class he is looking to match the class win that the car achieved last year when driven by C.S. team mate Luke Pinder.
The Corsa will be ready in late May and it is anticipated that Walker will contest the last 5 rounds of this years BTRDA 1400cc (B9) championship. These are Dukeries (19 June) / Quinton (10 July) / Woodpecker (4 September) / Plains (25 September) / Cambrian (6 November).
The car will also be available for Pinder to use on the remaining rounds of the Motorsport Direct Cup for Novas and Corsas which is held within Kuhmo clubmans championship. These events are Swansea Bay (17 July) / Park Systems (11 sept) and the Bulldog (23 october)
Both drivers are expected to shine in their respective championships although because this is a development year the championships themselves are probably out of reach.
James Walker is 25 years old and up to now has competed on selected BTRDA events for the last two seasons, despite driving an under developed Nova, James was setting competitive stage times within the B9 class. 20 years old Luke Pinder has spent the last few seasons gaining experience on gravel events, mainly in the Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire forests, He has also competed on BTRDA events and won the N1 class on last years North Humberside Rally .
