McLaren names BAE Systems Detica as cyber security partner

Formula One: New technology set to help McLaren

McLaren Group has named BAE Systems Detica as its official cyber security partner, which will see its Formula One team protected by new security tools.BAE Systems' Detica CyberReveal software will be integrated into McLaren Group processes, with a focus on protecting the company's 'rich and varied intellectual property'.Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren's Formula One team principal, said: Information, regardless of ownership or nature, is always at risk of compromise. Like many other organisations, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes strives to protect its information assets and our use of Deticas cyber technology has significantly reduced that risk.Martin Sutherland, the managing director of BAE Systems Detica, added: As security and cyber threats increase, we are delighted to be supporting McLaren in this critical area. We see too many companies still believing that traditional defences are enough to protect them from targeted cyber attacks."The increased prevalence of these attacks has reached a level where organisations must take positive action to protect sensitive commercial and customer information, their intellectual property and business critical systems."The McLaren Formula One team has had a disappointing start to the 2013 season and currently lies only sixth in the constructors' championship after four races.
