We set the team up to be strong at the bottom end and our reserves Nieminen and Ales Dryml scored 23 points between them.Peterborough manager Jan Staechmann said: This is a business for the promotion, and we should be winning at home, so its not good enough. Being twelve points down after three heats at home was mesmerising in itself.

COVENTRY are set to include club asset Olly Allen in time for Mondays local derby against Wolverhampton as they seek to turn around their Elite League fortunes.Allen, who won the Treble with the Bees in 2007, has agreed a return to Brandon alongside his Rye House commitments in the Premier League and will replace Joe Screen in the line-up.Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: We thank Joe for helping us out but he would have missed some more meetings and the initial loan deal was for a month, so we had to make a decision there. We needed to make a change, Olly belongs to us and is a British boy, he was really keen when we spoke to him and it will also make us stronger at reserve too. It should be a steady side, and now it's up to the boys.(SPEEDWAY 3)

NEWCASTLE overcame their injury problems to collect a 46-44 win at Plymouth to take the advantage in their Knockout Cup tie ahead of the deciding leg on Sunday. The Diamonds, who have been without Andrew Tully since pre-season and saw Richie Worrall crash out at Redcar on Thursday, delivered a solid display headed by Christian Henry on 10+3, including a last-heat 3-3 with Stuart Robson after the Devils Cory Gathercole fell on the second lap when the match could have been tied.Newcastle boss George English said: We had two lads out injured, but it didn't matter one jot to the lads who did line up as they raced in a manner that would have made Andrew and Richie proud. That two-point victory should certainly have us starting in pole position to make the quarter-finals after Sunday's second leg, but with Lemo (Mark Lemon) in their side we are not going to count any chickens just yet.(SPEEDWAY 4)

EDINBURGH moved to the top of the League Cups Northern section with a 55-37 win over Berwick in tricky conditions at Armadale.Craig Cook and Theo Pijper both collected 13 points for the Monarchs, who have a four-point advantage over Glasgow ahead of home and away clashes which will decide the group.Edinburgh co-promoter Alex Harkess said: It was a tough match on a slippery track, and we were making mistakes early on, but we showed our mettle towards the end.Berwick boss Ian Rae added: I thought we were up for shocking the Monarchs early-doors as the lads seemed well up for laying the ghost of Armadale good and proper. Sadly the home 5-1s were back and it became all too familiar once again, but there were some good spirited rides from our lads tonight and that's a positive to build on for the future.
