EASTBOURNE boss Trevor Geer admits the response from his team to criticism after their heavy defeat at Wolverhampton has been positive. The Eagles picked up a point at Swindon on Thursday and then defeated Poole 53-42 at Arlington on Saturday with reserve Lukas Dryml collecting 14 points from five rides, and skipper Cameron Woodward adding 12 (paid 14).Geer said: After the match at Wolverhampton, we were left with a lot of questions; however the performances both at Swindon and here against the Pirates have provided many of the answers. It has ended up being a good week. I think Wolverhampton was a wake-up call with the riders worried about their team places - they have turned things around and come good, being the first team to pick up a point from Swindon and with a win over Poole.

SHEFFIELD are awaiting results of x-rays after in-form Richard Hall crashed out at Berwick on Saturday. The home side won the Premier League match 51-42, but the visitors concern was with Hall, who suffered upper arm injuries after colliding with team-mate Damien Koppe when the Australian rider came to grief.Sheffield boss David Hoggart said: Its either a broken arm or a broken shoulder, we wont know for sure until hes had an x-ray. He was in a lot of pain and its just a savage blow for him because hes in the form of his career.Well obviously get more information over the next 24 hours but it doesnt look great at the moment, we just all hope Richard can make as quick a recovery as possible.

WORKINGTON overturned a 20-point first leg deficit to get the better of Ipswich in the Knockout Cup with an emphatic 61-29 win at Derwent Park. The Comets guests were to the fore with Craig Cook scoring paid-13 and stand-in reserve Micky Dyer collecting a remarkable five-ride paid maximum, as the home side overcame the absence of injured duo Richard Lawson and Chris Mills.Workington boss Tony Jackson said: It was a fantastic performance by the entire team, who were all determined to make up for the loss at Ipswich two days previously. We hit the Witches hard from the start, making significant inroads into their lead early on, after which it was a case of keeping everyone focussed. We were helped greatly by our two guests, who turned in superb performances, and we could not have asked for more from them. Overall it was a great night to be at Derwent Park.

ISLE of Wight have been rocked by the news that new signing Byron Bekker looks set to be ruled out of action for the entire season.Bekker aggravated a previous knee injury during the clubs press and practice session, and surgery now appears the likely option although he is to seek a second opinion.Co-promoter Chris Hunt said: Our thoughts are with Byron at this time, for as you can imagine he's feeling absolutely gutted that he's now set to miss riding for the Islanders this year after being so keen to do so.We are working very hard indeed to try to sign a replacement rider and are currently talking to a couple of riders who we think might well fit the bill.
