Three top-ten finishes for Jordan Witt and Chevron at the opening round of the GT Cup Championship
Chevron commence Mission Motorsport support programme for 2013
Launching into the 2013 GT Cup Championship with three finishes in the top-ten at Donington (27-28 April), Jordan Witt and Chevron Cars Limited have made a promising start to the new season.
Following the GT Cup organisers having introduced a revised qualifying and race format, the series now offers competitors a greater amount of track time. The schedule for the opening round included a 40 minute practice session, qualifying, and a 40 minute race on the Saturday, along with a second qualifying session and two 25 minute sprint races on the Sunday.
Jordan Witt, in the Chevron GT3, crossed the line in fourth place in both race one and two, climbing to seventh in the third GT Cup racedespite starting from the pit lane and ultimately passing 19 cars in 25 minutes.
Chevron and the GT Cup Championship also welcomed the Forces Motorsport Charity, Mission Motorsport, into the paddock, celebrating a newly founded association with the much-respected charity.
Mission Motorsport branding will appear on all entrants cars at each round of the GT Cup this year, while sick and injured personnel will be working with Chevron, joining the Crewe-based outfit on-event and working in the team garage.
David Witt, owner of Chevron Cars Limited, commented on the weekend: To achieve three finishes in the top-ten is a fantastic result for us at the first GT Cup round of the year. With 27 cars on the grid, which is a big entry, just to be up there battling at the front meets our main aim for the start of the season. We are extremely pleased with the progress weve made with the development of the GT3 and GT4 over the Winter.
And of course, there was an added element to our programme this weekend, as we officially launched Chevrons support of Mission Motorsport in 2013. It was a pleasure to meet all of the service personnel in attendance and we are proud to be working with such a worthy charitable organisation.
Former Army Major, Adam Marchant-Wincott, Relationship Manager at Mission Motorsport, said: We have had a fabulous weekend and are immensely grateful to David Witt and the whole Chevron team for the support they are giving to Mission Motorsport. We hope that, through our work, aided by the generosity of Chevron and the GT Cup community, we can continue to provide recovery activities and, in the longer term, vocational opportunities in motor sport for our wounded, injured and sick service and veteran personnel.
This weekend enabled 15 individuals to get a greater insight and understanding into motor sport and over the coming months, with Chevron's support, we will deliver the same for many more.
