Matteo Bobbi has confirmed his place as one of the main protagonists of the FIA GT 2004 season. After winning the world title last year with team-mate Thomas Biagi all eyes were on him this weekend, and he did not disappoint.
Second in qualifying session and in the race - but a little sour about the misunderstanding Gabriele Gardel had with the pitbox due to a radio problem that made Gabriele do a pitstop when the mechanics weren’t ready. Matteo’s team-mate ended doing a drive through and made another pitstop on the following lap.

“This weekend, we confirmed that our car has a great potential. Our adversaries know that the Scuderia Italia’s Ferrari 550 Maranello is the car to beat this year once again. The new Michelin tyres worked very well and allowed us to be at the top throughout the weekend.
A good qualifying session allowed me to be second right behind the other Scuderia Italia’s Ferrari. I started off well and overtook the poleman Gollin. During the 28th lap, I made a pit stop and then handed the car over to my team-mate who was able to keep first position. Then came that drive through due to a problem with the radio. When I got back into the car again, I did my best but I couldn’t catch up. Moreover, due to an oil leak at the Lesmo corner, I went off track but luckily had no terrible consequences.
At that point, I thought it was wiser for me to keep my second position and not run any other risks. The championship has afterall just started so anything can happen in the future.”
