KINGS Lynn moved ahead of Swindon into second place in the Elite League table with a 54-40 win in the sides first meeting of the week at the Norfolk Arena.Rory Schlein, Niels-Kristian Iversen and Sebastian Alden were all in double-figures for the Stars, leaving the Robins looking forward to the return of skipper Hans Andersen for Thursdays return at Blunsdon.Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: It was always going to be tough going there without Hans. Kings Lynn are strong side and they showed that around their home track.Troy (Batchelor) always seems to raise the bar when he steps in and he was fantastic for us, but in the end we just didnt have enough firepower there.(SPEEDWAY 2)
POLISH rider Dawid Stachyra collected his first-ever maximum in British Speedway with an unbeaten 12-point haul in Pooles win over Eastbourne.Stachyra and Maciej Janowski (14) provided plenty of cover for the Pirates as No.1 Darcy Ward twice suffered disqualifications during the meeting, with the home side emerging as 53-39 winners.Poole boss Neil Middleditch said: It came together for Dawid tonight and he deserves that. He has been working hard to get things right and that performance will give him plenty of confidence. As a team we were much improved this evening although I still know there is more to come. But getting three points out of one meeting is a relief at last. We must build on that now.
(SPEEDWAY 3)WORKINGTON have been forced to admit defeat in their bid to track Australian rider Mason Campton this season.Camptons appeal against his visa refusal has been rejected, although the club have already confirmed he will be in their 2014 line-up.Boss Tony Jackson said: I really feel it for Mason. He's a keen young sportsman wanting to race and there are no real answers for him. After hearing about the plight of fellow Australian rider Sam Masters, I think it is fair to say that deep down we didn't expect anything else from the appeal; but you continue to hope until the axe finally falls.Obviously, with regard to this season, this latest news confirms that Chris Mills, who was originally called up to cover for Mason at the start of the season, will now be staying with us for a much longer period than either party envisaged at the outset.
