LAKESIDES recent change paid dividends with an impressive team performance to defeat Coventry 55-40 in the Elite League at Purfleet and move level on points with fourth-placed Swindon.Sebastian Ulamek won three races on his debut and Lewis Bridger picked up paid-13 in a powerful display from the home side, whilst the Bees were totally reliant on Krzysztof Kasprzaks huge 20-point haul having gone into the meeting without skipper Scott Nicholls (foot injury).Hammers boss Neil Vatcher said: Seb came here last year as a visiting rider and had three wins, so we knew he can ride Lakeside really well and we are very pleased to bring him in. We feel he can do a good job for us.The win at Poole about three weeks ago has turned the season around, and the confidence in the team has gone sky-high. We didnt really click at the start but now things are looking really good.(SPEEDWAY 2)

BIRMINGHAM boss Phil Morris is demanding maximum points from the Brummies home clash with Belle Vue on Wednesday. The Aces will go into the meeting on a high after their 57-37 win over Eastbourne on Monday, in which Swedish star Magnus Zetterstrom scored a full 12-point maximum. But the Brummies have the added incentive of going level on points with Elite League leaders Wolverhampton if they can take all three points at Perry Barr.Morris said: We have produced a recent run of superb results that have propelled us up to second place. We must continue this form against Belle Vue. Its imperative we take all three Elite League match points from this fixture.

JAMES Wright has stood down from the Glasgow team and has confirmed he is taking a break from speedway. The former Premier League Riders Champion has endured a recent run of low scores and made his final appearance for the Tigers in last Fridays PL Pairs at Somerset.Wright said: Ive not retired, Im just taking a break from the sport. Things arent going to plan for me. Over the last couple of years things havent gone well, and this year hasnt gone as I hoped.I realised Ive got to change something, and Ive come to the conclusion that having a break might be the best thing for me to clear my head and try to get a refresh, and hopefully that will give me the kick I need.

KENT star Ben Morley believes the National League newcomers will soon find their form after a tough introduction to the competition.Morley scored ten points on Monday as the Kings were beaten 49-40 at home by Kings Lynn, with reserve Jack Kingston suffering a broken knuckle in a Heat 2 crash which also required a precautionary CT scan before he was allowed home.Morley said: Once we all click we will be able to beat pretty much most teams in the league. The trouble is one week a couple of riders will click and the next week another two will click, and we just need to get the consistency of all of us clicking together.I think we have a good chance against Buxton next Monday. Sam (Woods) is getting more and more speed, Connor (Coles) and Adam (Kirby) are both doing well. We are all slowly getting there and I think that Buxton will be a good stepping stone to start us off with a win.(FIXTURES)
