Both MG KX Momentum racers Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff say they are looking forward to one of the most thrilling challenges on the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship calendar at Oulton Park this weekend. The series moves to the swooping Cheshire track for the fourth meeting of the year, and both drivers are confident of zeroing on in the points lead over the three-race weekend.Plato, who has won twice so far this season, thinks that progress that the team has made with the two-litre turbocharged race car will reap rewards around the undulating track. We are going there in great shape, thinks Plato. We struggled a bit with the car in the last rounds at Thruxton but, as we were searching to perfect the set-up for that track, we unlocked certain things that will be of great benefit to us at Oulton Park. That means I am confident going there. It is a circuit that rewards a chassis with good balance, and that is what we have now.It is also a demanding circuit for the drivers where you can overtake. It means the braver guys will get more out of it and I totally love the place. It probably sounds a bit girlie but it is nice a picturesque track too and the fans adore the place. Theres always a great buzz there. Those views are echoed by Platos rookie team-mate Sam Tordoff, who continues to stun the championship regulars with his string of points-paying finishes. The Yorkshireman hasnt finished outside the top ten in any of the nine races he has contest for MG so far, and he wants to keep that stunning run going at Oulton Park. A positive testing session at Snetterton, conducted after the rounds at Thruxton in May, has also helped the drivers squeeze even more pace from the front-wheel-drive car.Theres no reason that we shouldnt be strong at Oulton Park, said 24-year-old KX Akademy driver Tordoff. The car was very fast there last seasonJason was on pole positionand there have been a lot of developments to it since then. That bodes well for us.I learned a lot personally at the last rounds at Thruxton about tyre management and I feel I have taken another step forward in learning about the championship. It is almost a local track for me and I have done quite a few miles testing around the circuit so there are no excuses. I will be gunning for the podium again. That has to be my target now.Team principal Ian Harrison has targeted race victories from the weekends races as the squad aims to turn up the heat in the championship chase. We arent here to pussyfoot around, he says. Oulton will represent a great chance for us, and we need to capitalise on that. We had a great car at Oulton Park last season and the recent test at Snetterton has given us a couple of tweaks to make the car even faster and even more competitive. That means we have to be looking for big points from both drivers to extract the maximum we can from the weekend. No BTCC meeting is ever easy, but this is one where we will go on the attack. The fourth meeting of the BTCC calendar will be shown live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD on Sunday, June 9. The opening BTCC race is due to start at 1230hrs.
