PETERBOROUGH have axed boss Jan Staechmann with club legend Ryan Sullivan returning to the Showground to join the managerial team.The Panthers are currently bottom of the Elite League table and have suffered four home defeats already this season.Owner Rick Frost said: We welcome Ryan back to the Panthers in a managerial role and we look forward to working with him. He knows the club extremely well and was very popular with the supporters from his time here as a rider.We also thank Jan for all his hard work during his time here with us and we wish him well in whatever he decides to do in the future.

LAKESIDE have signed Kevin Doolan as a doubling-up rider to take the place of Robert Mear, who is set to concentrate on his Premier League racing with Rye House.Doolan recently made an impressive Elite League guest appearance at Poole, and will make his Hammers debut against the Pirates at Purfleet on Friday.Lakeside promoter Jon Cook said: Kev is in great form and is a great guy to boot. I was shocked he hadn't been snapped up by one of our rivals after his performance on Sky Sports and was delighted when he agreed straightaway to join us.Rebuilding the team has overnight put us amongst the favourites and we now need to concentrate match by match and fulfil the full potential that is there for all to see.

BIRMINGHAM moved level on points with Elite League leaders Wolverhampton with a 54-39 win over Belle Vue at Perry Barr on Wednesday.The Aces had the individual star of the meeting in Matej Zagar (17) but the Brummies proved far more solid, with Chris Harris (12+1) enjoying his best score of the season for the home side.Birmingham boss Phil Morris said: Im delighted with the three points, all the boys rode well and the switches I've made in riding positions paid off.  Were joint leaders of the Elite League now with Wolverhampton but weve still raced fewer meetings.

TY Proctor is set to seek a second opinion this week as he looks to return to racing as soon as possible.The Australian is currently sidelined with nerve damage in his neck after a high-speed crash at Edinburgh when racing for Premier League Plymouth, and the injury is also causing him to miss Elite League matches for Wolverhampton.Proctor said: Ive had scans which show that I have nerve damage through my neck and three vertebrae.Its a bit of a concern, because obviously they can free it up but if something goes wrong afterwards there could be problems. I just need to go and see a few more people to get a second opinion this week and receive some more treatment to try and get it right.(SPEEDWAY 5)

KINGS Lynn moved top of the National League table thanks to a 53-42 win over Buxton and a spectacular debut from Robert Lambert.The 15-year-old won his first five races at the Norfolk Arena, only missing out on a full maximum in Heat 15.Steve Worrall added ten points on his home debut, whilst Charles Wright (17) and Adam McKinna (12+2) dominated the scoring for the Hitmen as the Young Stars took maximum points.(FIXTURES)
