Stanton Goes for Three-Peat
It is not often that a professionalathlete finds himself in nearly perfect-sync with his sport so early inthe season. However, Craig Stanton, who knows a little bit aboutfinishing on top of professional endurances races, finds himself in thatenviable position. The Long Beach, Calif. native, who has competed in 27triathlons, has run in five races in 2004 ranging in length from twohours, 45-minutes to 24 hours. The duet is perfect in 2004 Grand-Am Cup competition to-date.The three-hour event is the third Grand-Am Cup race of the season andStanton and Borcheller have won both of the proceeding events inconvincing fashion. Stanton, who is one of the most successful drivers in GrandAmerican-sanctioned events in 2004, will co-drive with David Murry inthe No. 16 AASCO Motorsports' Porsche in Saturday night's Food City 250.In that event, Stanton and Murry will attempt to back-up the team'sRolex Series' Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) victory with a second SGSclass victory at PIR. The Food City 250 Rolex Series event, the premier event of the weekend,will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel at 9 pm (ET), Saturday April 10.The GS-class race of the Grand-Am Cup Series will be shown at 6 pm (ET)on April 18.
