EASTBOURNE boss Trevor Geer lamented a night to forget as the Elite Leagues only unbeaten home record was smashed by Poole at Arlington on Friday. The Pirates had made multiple changes due to the weekend Grand Prix qualifiers, and guests Richie Worrall and Mikkel Bech provided outstanding support to World Champion Chris Holder who scored a paid maximumas a match which was level after nine heats finished 55-35 to the Pirates.Geer said: That simply wasnt good enough - without doubt the worst Eastbourne performance that I have seen in a long time.I know Simon (Gustafsson) scored some good points for us but most of the riders minds seemed to be elsewhere. We simply must take a long hard look at ourselves and see where we go from here.(SPEEDWAY 2)

WOLVERHAMPTON boss Peter Adams took some encouragement from the performances of the clubs regular riders as the Elite League leaders went down 53-39 at Lakeside. The result moved the Hammers into third place, six points behind Wolves with one match in hand, with Polish star Piotr Swiderski leading a solid scorechart with 12+1, whilst Freddie Lindgren (15) and Adam Skornicki (11) both hit double-figures for the visitors.Adams said: I think on tonights evidence we would have given Lakeside a run for their money had we gone there with our full side.Pretty much all of our points came from our own four riders, and we were all very encouraged by the performance although we came home empty-handed.

COVENTRY made it five home wins in succession by taking maximum points from a 56-38 win over Swindon at Brandon.Former Robins man Grzegorz Zengota starred against his old club with 15+1 with Michal Szczepaniak adding 13+2 against the depleted Robins, whose four guest riders contributed the bulk of their total.Bees skipper Scott Nicholls said: Their guests gave it 100 per cent because for them its another pay-day, and the more points they could get the better for them. But if we can get the consistency in the track and the boys are performing well, theres no reason why we cant push to get through to the play-offs.Swindon boss Alun Rossiter added: Im a bit worried about Kacper (Gomolski), and Nick (Morris) had a night he will want to forget very quickly, but there is not an awful lot to say. The riders gave it their very best, and we cant ask anything more.(SPEEDWAY 4)

PETERBOROUGH are sweating on the fitness of Ryan Fisher following a crash at Lakeside on Friday. The American star suffered a foot injury whilst guesting for Wolverhampton at the Arena-Essex Raceway although the rider himself doesnt think that anything is broken.Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: Ive spoken to Ryan and he said he will see what it's like in morning before deciding on whether to go for an x-ray.He doesnt think it's broken but will keep in touch with me over next few days.

BELLLE Vue have axed struggling Polish rider Artur Mroczka with Ulrich Ostergaard set to make a return to the club in time for Mondays home clash with Poole. The Dane, who rides for Redcar in the Premier League, has had three previous spells with the Aces, and co-promoter Chris Morton admits Mroczkas current form had left them in need of a change.Morton said: Its sad that weve had to let Artur go because weve seen some good form and some great racing from him, but he just cant find it at the moment. We had to make the change because we are in a position, with the matches in hand, that if we dont take advantage now then we could be throwing away a great opportunity.

SCUNTHORPE duo Ashley Birks and Thomas Jorgensen both raced to paid maximums as the reigning Premier League champions hit form with a 63-31 thrashing of local rivals Sheffield.Jorgensens score came in his first meeting back from a broken shoulder, and Scorpions boss Rob Godfrey admits he may now have to re-think his plans to change a side which had been without a win in their previous six matches.Godfrey said: Sometimes things happen for a reason. After the rain-off at Sheffield on Thursday, which was supposed to be our fourth away league match, I realised we couldnt make our planned team change until the middle of next monthBut after this performance, why would I want to make a team change?  I told the team before the meeting to show me what they could do, and they responded magnificently. It was great to be 15-3 up after three races, rather than 3-15 down!
