Food City 250 Driver Quotes

Max Angelelli, driver of the SunTrust Racing No. 10 Pontiac RileyWinner of the Food City 250

ON THE WIN"We were actually lucky with the yellows, but we had a good race strategy as well. Wayne put a nice pass on Max Papis early in his stint, and he gave me a race car that was one of the best ever. My thanks to the crew that gave me a 33 second stop for fuel & tires -- I only lost two positions on that stop. All the SunTrust guys and Bill Riley and his dad Bob are so good. The Rolex Series is super competitive and it was fun out there. I hope the fans enjoyed it!"

Wayne Taylor, driver of the SunTrust Racing No. 10 Pontiac RileyWinner of the Food City 250

ON THE DECISION TO PIT"Bill (Riley) makes the decisions; in fact we were on the radio talkingabout whether we should stop or shouldn't we. In hindsight, we could havestayed in because the car was running fine and the tires were fine. I think the end result probably would have been the same. "

ON THE WIN"This is great. The best thing about it is we have formed such a goodfriendship, and we've been running together since 1990. We've never had any success, so I said to him maybe it's me and vice versa. So to win here, it's really, really great. I don't remember throwing up my hands when Cadillac pulled out, if I threw out my hands, it was because I was relieved it was over. It was a tough three-year deal. We knew the program was for three years, so it was tough for everybody. Clearly, I had enough of driving and that side of the business. During 2003, I had a good time, but I had been working with George Koehn in the days of the Cadillac, the next thing we were back racing again.

Boris Said, driver of the Prototype Technology Group No. 21 BMW M3GT winner of the Food City 250

ON THE WIN"It was great. I think right now we have the dominant team. I've always said over and over again that the BMW is the ultimate driving machine. I proved it again tonight. We have great, efficient brakes. I have a new sponsor Centrix Financial out in Colorado. It was just good fun."

Bill Auberlen driver of the Prototype Technology Group No. 21 BMW M3GT winner of the Food City 250

ON THE RACE"It was clean. Of all the places where you'd think you would have damage to the car, this car has no scratches on it. The car was perfect and the guys did a great job. If you want to win, you have to drive a BMW."

Michael Levitas, driver of the TPC Racing No. 36 Porsche GT3 CupSGS winner of the Food City 250

ON THE WIN"It was absolutely great. The TPC team did such a great job. The Porscheperformed flawlessly, and the drivers did awesome. Randy (Pobst) did a great job. I held up the first legs in the start of the race and got hit in the hair pin. We fought our way back and closed the deal.

Randy Pobst driver of the TPC Racing No. 36 Porsche GT3 CupSGS winner of the Food City 250

ON THE FINISHThe Turbo Performance race team really did the job this time. MichaelLevitas got the car in the lead early, and a team effort brought us backfrom a lap down. What a wild, crazy race! We put Hoosier tires on right at the end, that was part of our secret, plus Michael Levitas set up the car so fast on the banking and won the race there.

Scott Pruett, driver of the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 01 Lexus Riley Second-place finisher in the Food City 250

"We played our plan perfectly. We got a little tripped up because there were a lot of yellows at the start, which other teams could take advantage of.Our strategy was to make one stop; unfortunately a yellow didn't come back to us. The CompUSA guys did a terrific job. We got in and out very quick on the pit stop. We managed to keep our lap, which was big. Then we just worked our way back through traffic, and at the end it was just a shoot out. I was driving as hard as I could, and the Lexus ran great. Max (Papis) did a terrific job. We came up a little short, but we didn't go down without a hard fight. This is the first year for Chip Ganassi Racing (with Felix Sabates) in this series, and the guys that beat us have been in this series for many,  many years."

Max Papis, driver of the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 01 Lexus RileySecond-place Finisher in the Food City 250

"The beginning of the race was very hectic because of all the yellows andthe traffic that was out there. Everyone on the CompUSA team has done areally great job. Today was a matter of track position. We got a little bit unlucky in terms of the pit stop. We ended up second, and I think that it was just a matter of track position at the end. Scott (Pruett) drove absolutely amazing at the end, and gave it absolutely everything that he had. We should be very proud because we are creeping up in the championship points. We are still new to the series, and we are working on the learning curve. Everyone at Ganassi Racing knows how to win, and this is just the beginning."

Jimmy Morales, driver of the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 02 Lexus RileyFourth-place finisher in the Food City 250

ON THE RACE"We fought to the end, but our car was too loose. We didn't have goodtraction causing us to not be able to keep the pace, and we finished fourth. This is the best finish we've had, but we hate to loose. We have to remember that this is only our second race with this car, and we are already fighting for the win, which shows how professional this CompUSA team is."

Luis Diaz, driver of the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 02 Lexus RileyFourth-place finisher in the Food City 250

ON RACING AT NIGHT"This was my first time to race at night. The conditions we're verydifficult tonight with traffic. The track changed a lot from practice this morning to the race tonight. The track was very slippery, and traffic didn't make it any easier. We had a little bit of a problem with the car being loose. I'm very proud to be part of this CompUSA / TELMEX / Chip Ganssi Racing with Felix Sabates team. I think with a little bit of experience, we are going to be very good."

Kyle Petty, driver of the Gunnar Racing No. 45 Porsche GT3 RSSecond-place GT finisher in the Food City 250

ON THE RUN"It was good. We had a good run. Gunnar (Jeannette) did a phenomenal jobdriving the car. Those guys did a great job, obviously, putting the cartogether. Gunnar ran the first leg. He kept us in the race, and we didn'tget lapped, and everything was good. We had to pit under green and got acouple laps down. With the No. 21 car, you're not going to make it up toBoris. Boris is phenomenal. When you look at that, it was a tough race, soit was a good day."

ON THE PINK CAR"The pink car works. Maybe when I come back to Phoenix, I'll bring a pinkNEXTEL Cup car."

David Murry, driver of the AASCO No. 16 Porsche GT3 CupSecond-place finisher in the SGS class Food City 250

"That's what racing's all about! If we had won it would have been evensweeter but it was great racing for the fans. The call to change to newtires at the end was definitely the right one. We didn't have anything tolose. At the end I was able to catch Randy (Pobst) in some traffic and gotaround him but he got right back around me. I tried as hard as I could butwe just weren't able to do it tonight. I've got to thank the AASCO crew. They did an awesome job."

Craig Stanton, driver of the AASCO No. 16 Porsche GT3 CupSecond-place finisher in the SGS class Food City 250

"That was a tough race! There's so many stories within in the story. Thisfinish goes to Harry Haggard who rallied the team this past week and thenwas the one to make the call to put on tires at the end. We got really closeto winning tonight. We had some awesome pit stops. I challenge anyone on pit lane to do stops as quick as our guys. David drove his heart out and I was driving hard my whole stint. This was definitely good theatre. The AASCO Porsche ran awesome. We're definitely looking forward to the next one."

Oswaldo Negri, driver of the Michael Shank Racing No. 6 Lexus DoranSixth-place finisher in the Food City 250

ON THE ACCIDENT"We were just cruising at the beginning, keeping the leaders in sight, but when that car hit me, it really affected our race, unfortunately. But it was still a solid finish, and we know we have the package to be competitive, so we have to just be happy with the points we earned here and move on to the next race.

Burt Frisselle driver of the Michael Shank Racing No. 6 Lexus DoranSixth-place finisher in the Food City 250

ON THE RACE"I really got knocked around a lot out there, and that part of the racereally wasn't that much fun. But chasing down those cars in the closing laps was very exciting and pretty satisfying. I feel more confident every time I am in the car, and this race was certainly a big test for me to deal with all the traffic. The crew did a great job all weekend, we should be happy with this result, but we are of course hungry for success, so we will keep working toward it."

Mike Fitzgerald, driver of the Orbit Racing No. 44 Porsche GT3 RSSeventh-place finisher in the GT class

ON THE RACE"We had a tough day today. We had some bad luck with yellows and bad luck with incidents that Joe and Jay couldn't do anything about. But the Orbit guys, as usual, hung in there and got the car back on track quickly. We had a chance at the end of the race to get a decent finish, but the officials called for one lap to go, then reversed their decision after I got in the car and did a wave-by. So we lost the wave-by, and that would have given us fifth place instead of seventh. But we still have the points lead going into the next race."

Jay Policastro, driver of the Orbit Racing No. 44 Porsche GT3 RSSeventh-place finisher in the GT class

ON THE RACE"We started out pretty good and hung in there through a ton of yellows.About 15 laps into my stint I came into NASCAR turn 3 and somebody had laid oil down pretty bad and the No. 57 car just lost it. It looked like his car was going to go down to the apron, but he came right back up. I was up against the wall to try to miss him, but he hit my left front and broke the upright. The guys did an outstanding job of changing it. After that, it was really good. Given the circumstances, for our first time here, it was a good outing. If we could have erased the 25 laps we lost fixing the suspension, we would have had a really good finish here."

Joe Policastro, driver of the Orbit Racing No. 44 Porsche GT3 RSSeventh-place finisher in the GT class

ON THE RACE"We had a really strong car and Mike and Jay did a heck of a job. I got hit right at the beginning - a Daytona Prototype tried to get underneath me, hit the tire barrier and threw the tires into me, spun me out and we lost two laps. But the crew did an outstanding job! After Jay got hit, they put a whole new suspension on the left side and we turned some of the fastest times after that. "

Chip Ganassi, co-owner of the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 01 and No. 02 Lexus Rileys

"We're certainly happy that we finished second and fourth. In racing there are battles and wars, today we lost the battle, but we are in it for the war."

Michael Shank, owner of the Michael Shank Racing No. 6 Lexus Doran

ON THE SIXTH-PLACE FINISH"Its disappointing to have had such good speed all weekend but not be able to convert that into a good result, but then again, to come out of this kind of a battle with a car that's not too badly damaged and a strong sixth, we have to be satisfied with that and focus on our upcoming test and get ready to race at Mont-Tremblant."

ON THE TEAM'S GOALS"We are focused on being in the top five every race, so we came up justshort of that tonight, but it was still a good weekend for us."

ON THE RACE"We had a podium car tonight, no question, but we just didn't catch thebreaks tonight. We got a bit unlucky with the pit call, bringing Oswaldo in right before a yellow, and the pit stop took a long time with the air gun failing on the front tire, and we couldn't get the back tire off from the contact, so we ran that entire race with the same right rear tire!"

"Oswaldo ran a great stint, and Burt continues to get better every time he gets in the car. I think he learned a lot tonight with all the traffic,t hat's for sure."
