Hong Kong based racing driver and journalist Matthew Marsh is working to continue competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB after racing the Porsche Cars VIP entry in the opening two rounds at Thruxton over the Easter weekend (10/11 April).
"I'd love to do the full season in Carrera Cup GB," says Marsh, who is currently trying to secure backing for the series. If successful, he would then combine the British series with his Carrera Cup Asia programme.
"I could do all the remaining UK weekends bar two and I'm keen to do more racing in the UK. I love racing Porsches." His Carrera Cup Asia programme comprises 11 races over seven weekends, leaving time to commute back to the UK for Carrera Cup GB races.
The chance to race at Thruxton came as he was at Bahrain airport following the Grand Prix. "I flew back into Hong Kong on Tuesday lunchtime and flew out to the UK at midnight! I was only in my house for about three hours," he explained. Despite being new to Thruxton, Marsh acquitted himself well and finished a fighting sixth in the second race of the day.
Marsh is a feature writer for the South China Morning Post and contributes to a number of major international motoring and motorsport titles. Having started racing in Formula Ford in England in 1987, Marsh raced for three seasons before focusing on a media career. He became a guest presenter for the Star TV coverage of F1 as well as being an interviewer and presenter for Asian Festival of Speed.
