The 2004 PANGLOBAL ALEX YOONG F1 DRIVER SEARCH programme enters it's second round of the nine-round Grand Final qualifiers this Sunday, April 18 at the new venue of KartQuest Go-Kart Circuit at the Sunway Lagoon's Extreme Park.

The exercise of each qualifier round is to select the fastest 5 qualifiers from each round to vie for the coveted prizes of testing with the Meritus Team in their Formula BMW at the year-end Grand Final.

The preliminary races of round 1 which was run last month at the Fast Track Speedzone circuit had it's final race aborted due to rain. The final race for round 1 will be run as the opening race at round 2 this weekend. The finaslists for round 1 are: Lim Shuey Wen, Khairul Izwan, Md. Haniff Che Ismail, Md. Faiszal, Shariman Onn, Sharulasraf Ishar, Md. Termizi, Bernard Yap and Md. Rahimi.

Malaysia's first and only Formula 1 driver, Alex Yoong, will be giving the briefing and conduct a workshop for the karters prior to the start of the event at 9.00am. All the competitors are newcommers to the sport and will welcome the workshop session by Alex. One of the conditions of entry is that one must not hold a competition licence.

Edwin Wong, the Chief Executive Officer of PanGlobal Insurance Bhd., said, "This PanGlobal Alex Yoong programme has attracted tremendous interest fromnewcommers to motor racing. The programme has unearthed some real talents after just one round and there are many more out there waiting to be discovered. It's not too late to sign up for round 2 and if it's over-subscribed we have another seven rounds for our young men and girls to show off their racing skills and at the same time benefit from a chance of a once-in-a-lifetime test drive in a thoroughbred Formula BMW."

The Extreme Park which the KartQuest circuit is sited in has many worthwhile attractions for family members to pursue besides go-karting. The park also offers a golf driving range, futsal courts, water sports and paint ball activities for all spectators to the PanGlobal event this Sunday. Added to that the park is well equiped with an excellent restaurent and is opened in the nights.
