Botterill doubles up

David Botterill is planning a double assault on the Michelin Porsche Club Championship and the Michelin Porsche Open Series this season. Over the winter, Botterill has acquired the ex-Chris Heeley 944 Turbo, which he will run alongside his existing 924 Carrera GT.

The Stockton-on-Tees driver will contest the Club Championship in the 924 Carrera GT, while the 944 Turbo will race in the Porsche Open and the Northern Sports/Saloon series. "I'll probably do about 35 races this season," says Botterill. With 17 races in the Porsche Club schedule, 13 rounds in the Sports/Saloons and a handful of Porsche Open races, it will be his busiest season of racing. "There are only a couple of clashes between the Club and the Sports/Saloons, so we can have a good go at both championships," he says.

Having developed the 924 Carrera GT into a front-running class two car over the last two seasons, Botterill has acquired one of the most successful 944 Turbos ever raced in the UK. David's Porsche season got off to a cracking start at his local Croft circuit over the weekend (17/18 April), collecting four trophies after taking three seconds and a third from four outings.
